Last week’s visit to our Portugal office was energizing! We’ve built an incredibly talented team there, bringing our vision of a globally scaled agency to life. Here’s where we stand: - Clients in 8 countries 🌍 - A team of 12 nationalities at Dapper 🌎 - Offices in 2 countries, with a 3rd in consideration 📍 - Running international campaigns for 50% of our clients 🌐 Our dream: To one day open offices in the US and Asia. It’s ambitious, but as Stephen Covey writes in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: “Everything is created twice—first in the mind, then in reality.” If we can envision it, we can make it happen. We got to spend our first week together as Paloceras team in Helsinki a few weeks back. Being currently split between Lisbon and Helsinki, we are trying to prioritize face-to-face time at least once a quarter. I feel it makes such a difference in building relationships when spending time in the same location. One personal highlight for me from our time together (in addition to traditional smoke sauna + cold plunges at Kuusijärvi! 💦) was Workplace Big 5 -personality assessments that we did for the whole team - first individually and then together as a team. Even though I see in our day-to-day how we are different, actually vocalising our differences helps us in building a better and stronger team for the future. It also helps us in identifying if we have specific gaps in our team that we should consider for future hires. What were the main takeways from the assessment? First of all, it was super insightful to get a more in-depth understanding of yourself and see that in many areas we are actually quite similar, such as being prone to novel ideas. In areas where we were different, it gave us a better understanding in not only seeing how we can support each other where the other person could be struggling but also understanding how the other person might behave in a certain situation. I also feel it opened the door for us to have more in-depth conversations about our roles & responsibilities. Where each of us fits the best naturally and what our underlying interests truly are. We are of course lucky to be in the position to mold our roles to best match the needs of the company and personal interests. In any case, I truly think that the best teams are built around utilising people’s strengths and interests as much as possible. 💡 In one of our rooms, ideas are born. It’s noisy here, filled with many voices. In another room, there’s constant phone chatter as we coordinate with partners, finalize agreements, and exchange information. In yet another room, the keyboards of our IT team are clacking away, or our financial flows are being managed. An office is not just a single space. It’s a bustling hive with many functions and responsibilities. It’s colleagues working in harmony, information flowing in all directions, and truth emerging through debates. 🤝 That’s why we place so much importance on the office. It needs to be quiet for thinking and lively for discussions. Cozy for working and comfortable for leaning back in your chair. I've always loved the idea of being an entrepreneur but have never felt like I had "the right" idea to start something on my own. That's one of the many reasons I love working at The Executive Centre -- we are always being pushed to innovate and are given the platform to create new business opportunities. Last year I launched our in house creative agency #TECCreate, which offers full service creative and production capabilities to our Members, partners, and even external clients. Most recently we had the opportunity to support one of our landlord partners Singapore Land Group Limited and collaborated with them to develop a video series to document the inspirational refurbishment of their iconic Singapore Land Tower in the heart of Singapore's CBD. Worldwide, buildings are responsible for 37% of global carbon emissions and 34% of energy demand. Other environmental impacts of buildings include resource depletion, air, water and land pollution and biodiversity loss. I'm so pleased that we're really starting to see an investment in green buildings, but to build a new sustainable building is a lot easier than bringing an old one up to the current #ESG standards. One of the biggest challenges that the corporate real estate industry faces is our mature assets, and often the solution is to just tear old assets down and start again, but what impact does that have on the environment? LOTS of waste. That's why I find this project so inspiring; instead of tearing down a 40 year old icon, Singapore Land Group decided to refurbish it from the ground up, with their tenants still inside. This first video introduces the vision and strategy behind this approach, and I encourage you to take a look because it shows what impact can truly be made when people are willing to invest both the time and resources. Lesson here: the harder road will take more time, often more money, but the long term impact will be much more significant. #ESG #sustainability #singapore #buildings #futureofwork
