Educational equity is a cornerstone of a just and thriving society 🙌, ensuring that all students have access to the opportunities and resources they need to succeed, regardless of background or circumstance. However, systemic barriers, like financial constraints and lack of social capital 😕, often create an uneven playing field. A 2014 study revealed that first-generation college students, who often face significant financial challenges, were more likely to be older, have dependents, work part-time, and come from low-income families 👨👩👧👦. And the median parental income for these students is $41,000, compared to $90,000 for non-first-generation undergraduates. These disparities highlight the urgent need for equitable solutions. Edular by KlassApp is committed to fostering educational equity by empowering institutions to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment: https://lnkd.in/grtsVbjR Our platform's features, such as streamlined financial aid processes 💰 and accessible communication channels 💬 can help bridge the equity gap and ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive. Last but not least, Edular's data analytics capabilities can also help institutions identify and address disparities in student outcomes, enabling targeted interventions and support programs 🆘. #highered #educationequity #edtech #studentsuccess #diversityandinclusion

College should be free and universally avaliable as an extension of primary and secondary education. 💰 Access to cost-free #education would mitigate some gender and racially-aligned wealth accumulation and social mobility barriers that #BIPOC, #LatinX, #Female, #GenderDiverse, and #NeuroDiverse individuals face. 📈 A more educated workforce drives economic growth, manifesting in lower unemployment rates and high individual earning potential. 💳 Students in this model have the opportunity to start their adult lives debt-free, which leads to less stress and better mental health, greater financial independence, and a healthier economy overall. ✋ Participation in #HigherEducation is associated with a ton of social benefits, like better overall health, increased civic engagement, and lower crime rates. ⭐ An educated population is also favorably positioned for the emergence of new technologies, can adapt to new challenges more effectively, and is often more resilient in the face of hardship, dampening the effects of global, regional, or local instability. Feel the same? Give me a different reason that college should be free and available universally. Not on board? Convince me otherwise. 🧡 an educator #k12 #educators #teachers #STEM #EdTech

https://lnkd.in/gMd6wcgm 1/5 Students in the United States, regardless of socioeconomic status, cannot adequately complete online assignments at home. 3/5 Low Socioeconomic students cannot adequately complete online assignments at home. 2/5 Low Socioeconomic students cannot complete online assignments AT ALL. There is a huge technology gap facing students in United States and there is little to no infrastructure in place to help high school students be successful in this incredibly technology-focused world. Technology was HUGE in my classroom. But as a teacher of low socioeconomic students, I understood I could not, in good faith, assign any online assignments to do at home. Those of you with school-aged children (Elementary or Secondary)- what are you seeing in your child’s school? Is technology a huge focus? What are your thoughts on technology for homework (or homework at all)? How do you think we can address the digital divide to prepare children for a professional world that relies so heavily on technology?

"Phone call tutorials simulate the benefits of one-on-one tutoring, shown to be one of the most effective educational approaches... However, many tutoring programs are high cost. For example, a prominent tutoring program yielded 0.19 to 0.31 SD learning gains at a cost of $2,500 per child. In low- and middle-income settings, phone calls could provide similar or larger impacts two orders of magnitude more cheaply, enabling scale-up across diverse settings." 📝 Building Resilient Education Systems: Evidence from Large-Scale Randomized Trials in Five Countries 🗺 Noam Angrist, Youth-Impact and What Works Hub for Global Education at Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford Michael Ainomugisha, Building Tomorrow Sai Pramod Bathena, Alokit Peter Bergman, UT Austin Department of Economics and Learning Collider Robert Colin Crossley, Youth Impact Claire Cullen, Youth Impact Thato Letsomo, Youth Impact Moitshepi Matsheng, Youth Impact Rene Marlon Panti, Innovations for Poverty Action Shwetlena Sabarwal, The World Bank Timothy Sullivan, NewGlobe Today's #FavoriteFindingFriday amplifies the incredible impacts of a simple, 1:1 remote education intervention using widely available technology: mobile phones. 📳 Full working paper: https://lnkd.in/eFVtdBjs Youth Impact ConnectEd brief: https://lnkd.in/gM4krh_u #whatworks #researchmatters #evidencebased #remotelearning #tutoring

Maybe the US should focus on #SKILLING young Americans - rather than #EDUCATING them in “traditional” #schools As I see it, #education in the future will be: - LATERAL: peer-to-peer learning - EXPERIMENTIAL: learning by doing - SELF-REFERENTIAL: empower each student to trust and unleash his/her unique potential The US government should ask for advice Sam Pitroda - who chaired #India’s National Knowledge Commission - on how to unleash young #Americans’ creative capabilities through personalized “skilling” program that leverage #digital platforms Next-Gen #educators like Vaibhav Chhabra and Richa Shrivastava (She/Her) can show the US States how to launch online programs like the #SDG #School that impart young people valuable digital #Maker skills they can use to build inclusive and sustainable local communities Learn about the SDG School, a hybrid program for young change makers: https://lnkd.in/e2b_Z29D To thrive in a VUCA world dominated by “smart” tech like #AI , young Americans need also to cultivate #soft #skills that boost their EQ and make them act as #wise #leaders

🎓 At E.R.E., we're on a mission to combat #ChronicAbsenteeism and ignite a lifelong passion for learning! Recent data from @illinoispolicy reveals a concerning trend, in the 2022-2023 academic year, @chipublicschools students faced a staggering 40% absentee rate, surpassing the statewide average of 28%. This absenteeism disproportionately affects low-income #students, with approximately 44% missing at least 10% of school days. The impact of such absenteeism extends far beyond the #classroom. More educated individuals need to be able to handle the challenges in the workforce, leading to decreased productivity and limited career #CareerOpportunities. Moreover, this trend hinders societal progress by perpetuating cycles of poverty and more. At E.R.E., we recognize these challenges and are committed to overcoming them. Our holistic approach and core values address absenteeism's root causes, providing students with the support and resources they need to succeed academically. By offering high-quality instruction delivered by experienced #tutors, we bridge the gap in educational achievement. Join us as we pave the way for a brighter future where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically and beyond. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the workforce and society as a whole. ✨ 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.
