Americans are struggling to eat well: Only 1/10 Americans are eating enough fruits and vegetables (CDC) and 1/3 American adults are overweight (NIH). But nearly half of Americans (130 million people) claim to actively try to eat well. There is a need and a desire for a better way to eat healthy. So what is stopping us from eating better? 46% of U.S. adults said a barrier to eating healthy foods was their price (Cleveland Clinic) 25% of Americans stated that they had to little time to cook and prepare healthy foods (Cleveland Clinic) while 20% percent said they didn't know how to cook healthy foods (Cleveland Clinic). edggies proposes a solution in the form of dehydrated veggie sprinkles: a fun, stress-free way to eat healthy by removing barriers of cost, time, and inconvenience. As a bonus, edggies are flavor neutral, shelf-stable for 2 years, and portable (they are also certified organic and traceable and made by a family run farm). We are launching this summer with kale edggies and if you're interested in signing up for our waitlist go to edggies.com.

We hate throwing food away. But America throws A LOT away: 88 million tons in 2022 (548 lbs per person). That is equivalent to 1,000,000 Boeing 737s and nearly 40% of total food production. So who is creating this food waste? Probably you! Households are the largest contributor responsible for nearly half of all food waste. How do we stop this? By taking a look at what exactly Americans are throwing away and why. Produce is the largest share of food waste, which makes sense given the short freshness period between cultivation and spoilage is mostly spent in industrial processes like cleaning, sorting, transportation, and grocery store sale, not in your fridge! Not only that, but package sizes are often too large for single consumers, resulting in consistent food waste. We know you are doing your best. You're busy doing the things that matter to you most. So let us worry about the veggies. Edggies are dehydrated veggie sprinkles that pack in nutrients but are shelf stable. By choosing edggies instead of fresh greens, you can avoid the weekly produce spoilage countdown. We're launching this summer. Sign up at edggies.com to join our waitlist and follow this page to keep learning about how we are the best, easiest way to eat your veggies.

Funny campaign from Kraft Heinz & The Not Company. Self proclaimed mayo haters getting tricked into eating vegan mayo after they are assured “it’s not mayo!” Also followed by a good CTA: tag a mayo hater and get a 50% off coupon for NotMayo. Spread awareness, start a conversation (who doesn’t love arguing about food), and get some first time customers. Very rarely can you sell a product by showing how much people hate it, but in this case it works and it’s hilarious. #ads #advertisements #marketingcampaigns

This recent article in Family Business Magazine explores a few important concepts that are extremely important to building #resilience in #familyenterprise. A largely important one is how strong the elements of family legacy and connection, the first of Relative Solution's #FiveDimensionsOfSustainability, exist in the Dager family. There is a clear understanding not only of where they came from, but of how the current generation fits with the ongoing legacy of the family and the business. The family’s values remain at the forefront of decision making, and they have a joint sense of the vision for the future. Families like the Dagers are able to handle rough patches because they can rely on the strength of their family #connection to pull them through the hard times. We welcome your additional thoughts on this inspiring story. Summer time can be a tricky time for people who struggle with alcohol. There is something about being outdoors, hanging out, and socializing that makes us THINK we need to be drinking. Trick your brain by drinking a mocktail or nonalcoholic beer. Remember that alcohol makes you feel terrible. Remember that alcohol makes you forget things you said and did. Remember that alcohol makes you say things you wouldn’t normally say. Remember that today’s fun isn’t worth tomorrow’s misery. #recovery #sobriety #prevention #recovery #soberlife #bhamrecovery #Birmingham #APC #endaddictionbham

## Your relationship with food is (probably) broken ## [DAY 1/3] Fixing your relationship with food is crucial; failing to address this relationship, on a deep mental level, and failing to integrate this new relationship properly into one's life, is the number one reason why people always rebound from diets. Here are my top suggestions to repairing it, a new one each day until next Wednesday. 1. You need to fix your priorities Food is complex thing. It is essential for life. We derive almost all of our energy from it. Its absence becomes all-consuming. Its pursuit, in the case of most species, usually takes the entire day, leaving time for little else. It is hard won and always requires focused and dedicated work. Humanity, however, has mastered not only the production of a food surplus, but also created incredibly sophisticated distribution and storage infrastructure to ensure that the majority of humans, the majority of the time, can access food whenever they want. Humanity is also the only species that has devised ingenious, and almost infinite, methods of preparing, altering, combining and manipulating our food to make, in the form of recipes which, in each instance, lead to creations that truly are far more than the sum of their parts. And this is not to mention the incredible phenomena of cooking, and the huge range of ways that the same food can be made to taste so different, purely due to the means and intensity of the application of heat. We've done this because food brings us intense and lasting pleasure. We love it. We think about it all the time. We often salivate reading about it on a menu, smelling it being cooked, or watching it being eaten by others. Food is crucial to so much more than mere survival; it's an instrument of pleasure, a channel of social bonding, a platform for familial connection and a medium of creative and artistic expression. It's also unbelievably convenient. When was the last time you had to directly work for food? When was the last time that you couldn't eat unless and until you hunted, or grew, what you intended to eat? The answer is never. It has never happened in your lifetime, nor mine and nor, most likely, our parents' either. Convenience is very easy to get used to. If you're a busy Dad, like me, looking to get a grip on your life and sort your health and fitness, without worrying about getting ripped like an Instagram influencer or spending an hour a day, that you don't have, in the gym, then consider joining me at the Buff Dads Club (www.buffdads.club).

Interesting read.
From a young age, children are learning about ‘good’ and ‘bad’ foods, rather than ‘nutritious’ and ‘non-nutritious” eats. The labels we give food create a novelty around them, particularly when these so-called ‘bad’ foods are used as rewards for children for doing ‘good’ deeds; a rather confusing reward system in which children are encouraged to do ‘good’ things in order to receive what they understand to be ‘bad’ foods.
