Hello All,
Let's get real.
This project is another masterpiece of Mr. Steven Levene/COO of Metrolinx.
The steel span Through Plate Girder over existing Tracks at Newmarket 4.90 Davenport has many structural concerns.
Mr. steven leven/(current COO of Metrolinx/ by then VP of RailCiorridor) decided to create a Risk Assessment Team Meeting (on Friday, June 4, 2021 1:30 PM-3:30 PM, ) and chaired this Team meeting.
Created +/-35 pages of check marks, and he concluded that:
all are good, the Case Closed!
The above case was opened by an engineer (Name DELETED] of RailCorridor to begin with.
the steel span was a Through Plate Girder, TPG, +/-100 ft long, double track, and amazingly, Direct Fixation.
Why Direct Fixation instead of Ballasted Deck?
Everyone knows that Direct Fixation will reduce the life-span of the bridge from +100 years to around 30 years.
well Metrolinx has the answer!!!
Also, the girders have top and bottom flange splices, as well as web splices exactly at the same location: one series on the North side of the span and one series on the south side.
the above splices means that the weakest point of the top flange is aligned with the weakest point of the web and aligned with the weakest point of bottom flange, at two separate locations, one on the North side and one on the south side.
you do the math!!!
If you want more information, please let me know.
Also, on September 18th and 19th, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, during the Arema Annual Conference, Metrolinx gave a presentation regarding the elevated bridge at Davenport Diamond, Newmarket sub/MX, and New Toronto Sub/(of a real railway).
Ironically, Metrolinx did not talk about this portion (steel double track TOG crossing over the existing tracks of another railway) of the project.
the bridge designer was not part of the presenter team.
The bridge contractor was not part of the presenter team. I doubt that there was even a representative of the actual designer and the actual contractor team at Arema 2024.
The people at the Arema Conf. 2024 were asking why?
Well, the answer is: there is a series of serious issues with that steel span bridge over the New Toronto Tracks.
Stay tuned for more info.

Always striving to make our programs bigger by being better.
I started Camp Patriot at Stevenson High School in 2018 with the goal of (again) putting together a camp program that I can be proud of. We focus on building community, trying new things, and focusing on growth.
It sounds like families are happy with us, too. Camp ‘24 ended on Friday and, as of today, we’re 50% full for summer of ‘25.
This post depicts the people who represent the majority of our Developers and Owners of Multifamily properties - incredible people wanting to provide the best place to call home for the residents that live at one of their properties. They put years of thought time and livlihoods into developing and renovating apartment homes so people/ families can be proud of where they call home! Thank you Brad Richardson and all of our owners for what you do for our cities and people! There are not enough people that truly know how passionate you are about your developments! #thankyou#propertymanagement
There is something special about the first move-ins. 3.5 years of hard work leads to this moment. I always think about the families moving in and the memories they will have here, the joy of kids growing up here and the major milestones that will occur here for our residents. Even though these are buildings that we are building, it is so much more, it will be a home and a community for so many people.
I’m grateful for our team and the hard work of so many people to get to this point.

Honoring the Land and Its Peoples: A Reflection of Gratitude and Responsibility
As we work to support healthier relationships through Secure Connections Retreats and Secure Connections Coaching, we are mindful of the land on which we live and operate—and the Indigenous peoples who have cared for these lands for generations.
In Seattle, Washington, we acknowledge the unceded land of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the Duwamish Tribe and the Suquamish Tribe. Their stewardship of the land and waters since time immemorial deserves recognition and respect.
In West Newbury, Massachusetts, we honor the Pawtucket and Pentucket peoples, part of the Algonquian-speaking Indigenous communities, whose resilience and contributions continue to shape this region’s history and legacy.
This acknowledgment is a small step—a beginning—not an end. It reminds us of the privilege we hold and the historical and ongoing injustices faced by Indigenous peoples. As we reflect this Thanksgiving, we are committed to actions that support equity, justice, and inclusion.
We also encourage everyone to join us in honoring the land and its peoples by contributing to initiatives like Real Rent Duwamish in Seattle or similar organizations supporting Indigenous communities. Together, we can create a kinder, more equitable world.
Let’s reflect, learn, and act—not just today, but every day.

Not sure what the I&M Canal National Heritage Area is exactly? Here's an explanation. Also gives you insight into what I've been working on over the last 28+ years...
The I&M Canal National Heritage Area turns FORTY on Aug. 24... But, what is the I&MCNHA? 🤔
Well, first there was the I&M Canal, a 96-mile hand-dug canal that opened in 1848 and connected the Illinois River to Lake Michigan. The canal was the final link needed to complete an all-water route that ran from the East Coast through the Great Lakes down to the Gulf of Mexico. That route led to extensive growth in the region, including transforming Chicago from a swamp town into a metropolis.
In 1984, Congress and President Ronald Reagan recognized the need to develop a "new kind of national park" that promoted the culture, heritage and economic development of a region that wasn't necessarily on federally owned land. The FIRST of these "national heritage areas" was ours, which supports 5 counties and 60 communities (862 square miles in all) that owe their growth to the canal. The I&MCNHA is marked in blue on the map.
The Canal Corridor Association (CCA) is the nonprofit, coordinating agency that has been given authorization by Congress and works closely with the National Park Service to oversee the I&M Canal National Heritage Area. In this capacity, the CCA has developed the I&M Canal Visitors Center, I&M Canal Boat Tours, numerous events and programming throughout the year and even this social media channel. 😁

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! 🍀 Today is not just about wearing green or hunting for four-leaf clovers.
It's a day steeped in history, celebrating St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, known for bringing Christianity to the island and reportedly using the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity.
But how can we channel the spirit of St. Patrick's Day into property and community management? Easy! Here are a few tips:
🌿 Go Green: Not just with your outfit! Implement eco-friendly practices in your community. Think recycling programs, energy-efficient lighting, and encouraging bike-to-work days.
🎉 Community Engagement: Organize events that bring people together, much like the communal celebrations of St. Patrick's Day. A community potluck or a green-themed party can do wonders for neighborly bonds.
🌍 Inclusivity Matters: St. Patrick's Day is celebrated worldwide, em we bracing people of all backgrounds. Ensure your community feels welcome and valued, regardless of their origin.
📚 Educate and Share: Use your community bulletin or social media to share fun facts about St. Patrick's Day, spreading knowledge and joy.
Let's take inspiration from this day to not only wear green but also to think green and act in ways that foster a strong, inclusive, and joyful community. May the luck of the Irish be with you today and always!

#AlumniSpotlight for Lena Pace (’13 M.A.), the new superintendent of both the Arches and Canyonlands national parks in southeastern Utah.
Pace grew up in Alaska where both of her parents worked for the National Park Service (NPS). She was a commissioned NPS law enforcement ranger for more than 20 years in multiple parks and has been “inspired by the resources, history and culture of southeastern Utah” since she first visited Moab and Delicate Arch early in her career.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the dedicated staff who care for these special places, collaborate with our public and private partners, and engage with the local communities and Tribes,” she said in an NPS statement.
