Struggling to hit the word limit on your Common App essay? Here are two tips: avoid repeating yourself, and jump into the action. If you’ve already explained something in one paragraph, don’t repeat it in the next. Get right into the story and start with action. Admissions officers read hundreds of essays, so keep things clear and powerful. Strong language gets their attention and keeps them interested. A good story is all about making every word count. Try cutting out anything that doesn’t move the story forward. What one detail could you drop to make your essay even stronger?

And unlike most supplementals, there is a specific way to write this essay that demonstrates genuine knowledge and enthusiasm for the school while also communicating something unique about yourself. This is an essay you want to get right! Writing the Why This College Essay https://hubs.ly/Q02K0LQ20

For your Common App to stand out from the crowd, your super-short activity descriptions must reflect the same thought and care you give to your personal essay. Let’s look at how you can accomplish this in such a short space. ⭐ We cannot stress this enough: honesty and authenticity are extremely important throughout your application. ⭐ 🔷 Do not list an activity as being the most significant to you if it really wasn’t. 🔷 The correct choice for your most significant activity isn’t necessarily the community service project you think will earn you acceptance points. 🔷 Spend some time thinking about why you dedicate yourself to this activity. What makes it rewarding to you? 🔷 Show the adcoms that you are not a one-note applicant, that you have several interests and are a multidimensional individual. 🔷 Be real when stating your true commitment. https://hubs.li/Q02GWMmr0 #collegeadmissions #collegecommonapp #commonapp #commonappactivitiessection #HSactivitiesforCollege #collegeapplication #commonapplication #howtogetintocollege #collegeappwritingtips

For my physical book readers, do you prefer a traditional bookmark that slips between the pages? Post-it Notes? Something else? Or do you fold down corners? (Some may cringe about folding. Don't come after me!) 🫣😅 For my digital readers, how do you feel about the bookmark features of your reading apps and devices? Do you think they work well? How might you improve them? #BookLovers #ReadingCommunity #BookwormLife
