As the year comes to a close, we are proud to highlight the incredible contributions of our EAASI Young Ambassadors, who represent the future of the aerial surveying industry. Through their dedication, they’ve brought fresh perspectives to key industry discussions and helped bridge the gap between emerging talent and established professionals - many thanks to Alice Hilton and Charlène NEGRELLO We encourage EAASI members to start identifying exceptional young professionals to nominate for the program in 2025. Let’s continue inspiring the next generation! #youngtalent #aerialmapping #gis #surveying #realitycapture

Revolutionising Oceanographic Study with ARHEA Underwater Drone As archipelagic and island nations, the ocean holds many opportunities for our coastal communities. Home to various biodiversity, beautiful spots to adore, and a very valuable feature for local livelihood: The ocean’s potential is immense. However, exploring and understanding these realms has always been a challenge due to the depth of the oceans and limiting the existing methods of oceanographic study. Therefore, the AIS Research and Development: Joint Research program has shown us the game-changer in marine research and exploration, the Advanced Drifter GPS Oceanographic Coverage Area (ARHEA). The ARHEA is an oceanographic parameter measurement instrument which is equipped with diving capabilities and depth settings, capable of data acquisition in operations at depth of the water column, which can record water quality data using turbidity, pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO), conductivity, and depth sensors with high accuracy. Developed based on collaboration between Universitas Padjadjaran, the University of the Philippines, and Robomarine on the AIS Joint Research program, it is possible for the ARHEA to observe the water column remotely from a distance and for a long period of time, which make it easier for use in academic research, military support, and other commercial applications. At the 7th Senior Official Meeting of the AIS Forum in Fiji, the ARHEA were showcased in a workshop and sea trial, which intended to collect and visualise ocean data and gave hands-on experience to the people of Pacific in operating and handling the device. It is hoped that the implementation of the ARHEA will come as an innovative solution to the country to manage ocean data and more effectively utilise it for various applications. Learn more about the ARHEA and AIS Research and Development programs through aisforum.org. Courtesy Visit with the Director General of the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA) August 19, 2024- Alhamdulillah, we had the opportunity to arrange a courtesy visit to the office of the Director General of MYSA, YBrs. Gs. Haji Azlikamil bin Napiah. We were deeply inspired by MYSA’s short- and long-term plans to position Malaysia as the No. 1 leader in Southeast Asia for space research and technology (currently, we are in the top 3). Tuan Haji Azli also shared the major challenges Malaysia faces in developing a comprehensive space technology ecosystem, particularly in training the necessary experts. We are excited about the five key pillars of action that have been planned and are confident that we have a significant opportunity to contribute to this development. #MYSA #SpaceTechnology #InnovationMalaysia #SpaceLeadership #PROCELL
