Hello LinkedIn community! Five weeks ago, I embarked on a thrilling adventure into the world of cybersecurity, and today, as we commemorate International Girls in ICT Day with a focus on 'Leadership', I find myself marveling at the journey so far. In the short time since I've stepped foot into this fascinating field, I've been met with challenges, triumphs, and a profound sense of purpose. Each day has brought new lessons, new discoveries, and a growing excitement for what lies ahead. As a newcomer to cybersecurity, I've quickly learned that leadership isn't about having all the answers, it's about asking the right questions, listening intently, and embracing every opportunity to learn and grow. Despite my novice status, I'm eager to embrace the mantle of leadership, to chart my own course, and to inspire others to follow suit. Inspired by the incredible women who have blazed trails before me, I'm fueled by a burning desire to make a difference, not just for myself, but for the countless girls and young women who dream of a future in technology. I believe that by leading with courage, compassion, and conviction, we can create a world where every voice is heard, every dream is valued, and every opportunity is within reach. Today, as we celebrate International Girls in ICT Day, I'm filled with gratitude for the chance to be part of this transformative journey. Though I may be new to the game, I'm ready to roll up my sleeves, to embrace the challenges, and to lead by example, one step at a time. In addition, I'd like to celebrate Confidence Staveley and CyberSafe Foundation for the opportunity to be part of CyberLearners Community. I'd also like to celebrate our mentor Nanbaan Pwaspo and our success advisor Victoria Robinson for walking with us since the beginning. I'd also like to celebrate my fellow #CyberLearners3.0 for believing in ourselves and going through this learning journey. So here's to the dreamers, the believers, and the fierce, fearless souls who dare to defy expectations and carve their own paths in technology. Together, let's harness the power of leadership, let's ignite the flames of possibility, and let's pave the way for a future where anything is possible! Breaking Barriers and Building Communities As the first in my family to venture into the tech industry, the journey hasn’t always been straightforward. From learning the ropes of software engineering to stepping into the dynamic world of cybersecurity, I’ve faced challenges, embraced growth, and found a sense of purpose. One of the most fulfilling parts of this path has been mentoring women in tech. It’s inspiring to help others navigate their own unique journeys, whether it’s finding their voice in the workplace or overcoming imposter syndrome. For me, tech is not just about innovation; it’s about community. The New Club, where I connect with incredible women engineers, and volunteering with RTC resume reviews are reminders of the power of collaboration and shared growth. If I’ve learned anything, it’s this: Success in tech isn’t just about breaking into the field—it’s about holding the door open for others. #KTL recently participated in the Fastrack into Information Technology (FIT) event in Dublin.This inspiring event held at the Green Isle Hotel aimed to encourage young females to explore exciting career opportunities in the tech industry. The event brought together over 1,000 enthusiastic students, including Transition Year, Youthreach, and PLC students, to connect with leading companies like TikTok, Microsoft, Bord na Móna, HSE, Shein, Irish Air Corps, Garda Cyber Security Unit, and more. Attendees had the chance to engage directly with these organisations, gaining insight into the dynamic world of technology. For #KTL, this marked another year of active involvement in the event, empowering the next generation of women in tech. Our team valued the opportunity to connect with young talents and share insights about the industries we work in. Chloe Healy, HR Generalist attended this event and provided these two key takeaways: “Events like this help to actively motivate and empower young females to consider careers in tech. Celebrating My ALX Graduation: A Journey of Growth and Resilience Today, I stand at the culmination of a transformative journey, celebrating my graduation from ALX—a path that has not only enriched my skills but reshaped my understanding of my own potential. As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences and challenges that have defined this stage of my life. I embarked on this adventure by enrolling in the Ladies in Tech Cybersecurity boot camp while also tackling the ALX Virtual Assistant course. At first, the sheer workload felt overwhelming. The daunting challenge of balancing two demanding programs made me question my ability to succeed. However, deep within, I felt a spark—a determination to push through the obstacles in my path. There were moments of sleepless nights and nagging doubts, but I soon realized that resilience was key to my success. I leaned on the support of fellow participants, engaged with mentors, and tapped into resources that helped me navigate the complexities of both courses. Each day became an opportunity to learn, grow, and affirm my intelligence and resourcefulness. The journey was anything but easy, but it taught me invaluable lessons about perseverance. I learned to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Each project I completed, each concept I mastered, became a testament to my resilience. The sense of accomplishment I felt upon finishing both courses is indescribable—a reflection of my dedication and hard work. Moreover, I am thrilled to have qualified for the LITA mentorship stage, an achievement that signifies not just the conclusion of my coursework, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter. This opportunity offers a platform to share my journey, connect with like-minded individuals, and contribute to a community that empowers women in tech. As I celebrate my graduation today, I honor the trials, the late nights, and the moments of self-doubt that shaped me. 🌟 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁: 𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗳 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 🌟 As August comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on an incredibly rewarding and productive month. From completing the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate to securing an internship at CyBlack, and getting mentorship program invite from Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS), every step has brought me closer to my goals in the cybersecurity field. 🚀 Here’s a quick recap of some of my key highlights: 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝘼𝙣 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥: I’m thrilled to have been accepted as an intern at Cyblack, a significant milestone in my journey as a newbie. 𝙒𝙞𝙘𝙮𝙨 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢: I’m thrilled to have been invited into the WiCyS 2024 mentorship program, where I can elevate and upskill my career in various ways. 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝘼 𝙈𝙖𝙟𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: I proudly completed the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate on Coursera, adding another vital credential to my growing skillset. 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙏𝙤 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙢 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: My 9-year-old daughter achieved second place in the KIDS STEM SUMMER by the Young CISO Network, demonstrating that the love for tech runs in the family! 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙄𝙣 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜: I participated in various challenges and learning opportunities, including a 30-day challenge with Odinaka, the Girls In Tech Nigeria visibility challenge, and a business communications internship, all of which have enriched my understanding and expertise. 𝘾𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨: I received my certificate from the Sterling Bank and WISCAR mentorship program, an achievement that I'm incredibly proud of and grateful for. 🎯 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗧𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 🎯 As we step into September, I am filled with even bigger expectations and excitement.
