🤗 On Friday I had the absolute pleasure of meeting my mentor - Olayinka Wilson-Kofi - for the rest of the Cybergirl fellowship. 📌 Olayinka Wilson-Kofi is an accomplished Information Security and Privacy Specialist with over 15 years of experience in the tech industry. She currently serves at Ericsson, Middle East & Africa. She is also a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, serving as the President of the Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) West Africa Affiliate and an ISACA SheLeadsTech Ambassador. Our first mentorship call was nothing but inspiring and insightful. Here are some key takeaways: 🔐 Setting Expectations: Olayinka emphasized the importance of clearly outlining our expectations for the mentorship. Her story is a testament to the power of determination and continuous learning. 🌏 🔐 Challenges for Women in Tech: My mentor understands the unique challenges and discriminations women face in the tech space, assuring us of her support in navigating these hurdles and sharing her experiences and lessons learned. 👩💻 🔐 Investing in Ourselves: She encouraged us to invest in ourselves, continue learning, and join professional bodies to stay updated and connected. 📚 🔐 Building Confidence: A significant focus was on building our confidence, making informed decisions, and ensuring we enjoy the journey. 🎉 🔐 Networking and Collaboration: Olayinka emphasized the importance of networking and collaborating with others in the industry to foster growth and innovation. 🔐 Her Vision: She believes "The Top is big enough for everyone" and is committed to seeing us succeed and reach the pinnacle of our careers. 🚀 This week also marks Week 2 of our soft skills path, where we are developing essential skills to complement our technical knowledge. 🛠️ I am incredibly grateful for this mentorship opportunity and the support from my mentor.
