The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is advancing efforts to make virtual care more accessible by proposing the elimination of copays for these services. Additionally, the VA aims to establish a grant program that funds access points in rural and underserved communities. These access points, located in non-VA facilities, would provide veterans with private spaces equipped with high-speed internet and the technology needed to connect with VA providers remotely. This initiative is particularly vital for veterans in areas where distance and limited resources often hinder access to timely care. By removing financial barriers and addressing connectivity challenges, the VA is not only expanding access but also setting a precedent for how virtual care can bridge the gap in healthcare equity.
