Just a quick scan of my timeline, and I see lots of concerns raised on what the #USElections results and #Trump presidency will mean for #development, #humanrights #foreignaid #philanthropy #impactinvesting. What are the opportunities and challenges we should prepare for in the ecosystem, especially in Africa?

Did you know that before colonization, 2S people were revered for embodying both male and female spirits, serving as healers and visionaries in their communities? However, colonization introduced harmful norms and eroded their societal roles. Despite these challenges, 2S individuals are reclaiming their cultural identities and restoring their place in society. It's vital to recognize and amplify their voices, respecting the diversity and specificity of Indigenous traditions and identities. Atira is committed to supporting Indigenous and non-binary communities, if you would like to join us on our mission please consider donating to our cause: https://lnkd.in/gDjsybWM #TwoSpirit #ColonizationEffects #CulturalIdentity #RespectDiversity #IndigenousTraditions #NonBinary #SupportCommunities #AtiraMission #DonateNow #EmpowerVoices #RestoreRoles #HealersAndVisionaries #ReclaimIdentity #SpecificIdentities #InclusiveSpaces #CommunitySupport #EmpowermentJourney #HealingPower #WaysToHelp #AtiraBC #RespectingHeritage #VisibilityMatters #CulturalHeritage #CommunityUnityDi

In India, the landscape of social impact is evolving through strategic collaborations and partnerships between corporations and NGOs. These alliances, driven by shared values and mutual respect, are reshaping the philanthropic sector, amplifying initiatives’ impact, and fostering sustainable change. The power of these collaborations lies in leveraging each partner’s unique strengths to create a collective impact that transcends individual efforts. #YUVAIndia #SocialImpact #Partnership #Philanthropy #CollectiveImpact #SustainableChange #SharedValues #MutualRespect https://lnkd.in/dFXbY7Um

Is philanthropy failing Palestine, Israel, and the Middle East? Our 2024 readers questionnaire has been designed to gather opinions and impressions on philanthropy's response to the unfolding catastrophic situation in #Palestine, #Israel, and the wider region. As part of our ongoing coverage, we are looking to understand more about how #philanthropy is addressing the conflict, how organisations are responding both externally and internally, and how public statements on the conflict are affecting the relationship between funders and grantees. This questionnaire is completely anonymous and has been designed to invite diverse perspectives from individuals across the philanthropy sector worldwide. 🔗 tinyurl.com/2uk6t2uk

The pursuit of systemic change is inspiring many global foundations to do something that bilateral and multilateral funders have often done, for better or for worse, across the world: direct engagement with governments. In this series for On Think Tanks, we explore political philanthropy in technical advise to governments. In the latest post for the series I reflect on the challenges that this way of working presents. I wonder, for example, if private foundations will be able to protect their grantees in the event of a potential backlash from a future, different, regime?
New #OTTBlog: Navigating the Complexities of Foreign Philanthropy with Governments As global foundations engage with governments in the Global South, they face significant challenges from political backlash to cultural misunderstandings. How can they work more politically and responsibly? Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day! 🎉 Today, as we celebrate Native Peoples and honor our histories, cultures, and identities, we want to take a moment to spotlight our “Language and Learning Resource for Non-Indigenous People”. This resource is an initial reference for funders and other philanthropy professionals exploring the intersection of Indigenous Peoples and philanthropy. At Native Americans in Philanthropy, we are actively working to Indigenize the philanthropic process; developing shared understandings through education and communication is part of that effort. We created this resource for those who wish to begin or expand their understanding of Indigenous communities and how they intersect with the philanthropy sector. This resource is not a one-size-fits-all guide to working with Indigenous Peoples, Tribal Nations, or Indigenous-led organizations. Please treat it as an entry point, not a checkbox.
