#Well_Control_Lesson Are you still paying attention to human factors in well control with advanced drilling technologies? Many of the worst oilfield incidents have been attributable to human factors. Consequently, corporate well-control organizations such as IOGP, International Association of Drilling Contractors and International Well Control Forum were interested to include human factors in the management of well-control incidents as it is often stressful lead to highly-risk situations. Although the Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) was used to drill a challenging exploration well to address a well control event, human factors can lead to well control incidents as it was stated in the last IOGP well control lesson sharing 24-5, May 2024.

Our Managing Director Grant Wallace will be sharing with the members of Acipet – Asociación Colombiana de Ingenieros de Petróleos on the subject of "Achieving Technical and Human Performance in Complex Wells" The webinar will explore a variety of complex well challenges including Stuck Pipe Prevention, Extended Reach Drilling (ERD), Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) and High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT). We will also explore the complexities of effectively managing Human Factor (HF) challenges. While preparing Drilling contract, avoide misunderstanding. Drilling contracts contain unique terms that can result in significant operational and financial implications for both the operator and rig owner. If not drafted well, these contracts can be fertile areas for dispute. Avoiding ambiguity, or silence, in the contract with respect to these critical terms, will prevent misunderstandings and conflict should situations arise that require contract interpretation. Proper drafting will also help ensure that each party gets what it expected from the contractual relationship. There could be 100 reasons or more for dispute in drilling contract, while make sure drafted each term carefully, including fees points for more understanding. 1. Allocation of Rigs 2. Terms 3. Mobilization and demobilisation 4. Commensment date 5. Day rates, day rate it self would be more complicated if not properly drafted. like..... Day-Rate Triggers The typical drilling contract implementing a day-rate compensation structure can present ambiguity if not properly drafted. Drilling contracts may include all or some of the following day-rates: i. mobilization and demobilization rates (payable when the rig is traveling to and from drilling location). ii. standby rates (payable when the rig is on contract but not used and can have sub-categories of hot standby (payable when the rig is ready to re-commence operations on short notice) and cold standby (payable when elements of the rig crew and/or services have been demobilized). #contract #drilling #rigs #onshore #tender #iraq #erbil #angola #libya #uae
