crypto ecosystems live or die by developer activity - @ElectricCapital 's incredible 2024 developer report dropped today - here are my biggest takeaways from it: the rise of Asia - the biggest portion of crypto devs are now there. i'd expect there to be a rebalancing in the next few years as the regulatory environment improves in NA, but anyone in crypto needs to pay attention to Asian teams, users, and projects the continued rise of Solana - now number 1 for new devs, and number 2 overall... we're not just living in a multi-chain world, but multi-ecosystem - and some of the other fastest growing ecosystems are other major L1s, including @aptos, @StellarOrg, and @SuiNetwork in fact, multi-chain dev work is now over a third of all developers - unless there's a specific reason you're sticking to one chain, new projects by default should be prioritizing interop Base is continuing to win mindshare and act as a hub of activity on EVM - with a ton of code now originating there, instead on mainnet don't fade bitcoin devs either - they now number in the thousands - my guess is this is reflective of interest in Ordinals, Runes, and the sheer interest in tapping the massive amount of value locked in the Bitcoin ecosystem nfts are back (and never really left) - but they're not your grandad's jpegs - the median nft is now a low-cost mint on Base or Solana - even if we don't see the frenzy for $500K jpegs anymore (yet - maybe 2025 will get crazy) on DEXes... We sometimes forget that there's many people who aren't opposed to blockchain technology, they just aren't interested in the speculative casino. They see the benefit of useful applications for everyday life that are being built on-chain, like BitNote (think 1Password but fully decentralized) or the Really AR App (loyalty rewards for going to movies) or Mynaswap (shoe collecting and trading). The problem is, the steps to start using apps on a chain like Avalanche is just too much of hurdle. Go to Coinbase, convert to a token like AVAX, send to a wallet, bridge to Avalanche, then start using the app. Its a lot. But people know Stripe. They most likely have an account already. So now with just a few clicks, you can use Stripe to go directly to apps on Avalanche. Core wallet now lets you buy AVAX with Stripe, and then its automatically connected to Avalanche. Cuts out many steps. Worth sharing for all my non-crypto native friends looking to explore more 👇

The most exciting web3 opportunities center around applications that will onboard many millions, and eventually billions, of users to crypto by offering a combination of true utility and an easy to use, best in class consumer product.These products have to solve real problems and do so in a way that brings a sense of magic to the average user. Something that used to be harder, more expensive, or less enjoyable simply becomes easier and better. Crypto needs to be the “how” but not the “why.” 10 months ago we watched Mike Hudack unveil Sling Money at the Breakpoint Solana conference and immediately believed that Sling had an opportunity to do exactly that.
