First responders form the backbone of our communities, always ready to act when lives are on the line. On National First Responders Day, we honor their bravery and dedication—including the courageous individuals, like Special Agent Tom D., who responded to the 9/11 attacks and later joined the FBI. His commitment to service didn’t end on that tragic day; instead, he brought his experience and resilience to the Bureau, continuing his mission to safeguard communities across America. If you’ve spent your career looking out for the well-being of others, imagine how those same instincts can be leveraged in new ways as an FBI special agent. Your ability to stay calm under pressure, make quick decisions, and maintain unwavering dedication to public safety are the very qualities that make for an exceptional special agent. Transitioning from a first responder role to the FBI allows you to continue making a profound impact—investigating criminal activity, combating terrorism, and safeguarding the American people from emerging threats. If you’re ready to take your career to the next level, be a part of creating a safer, more just future as a special agent at the FBI. Revealing the Hidden World of Japan’s Public Security Police - https://lnkd.in/gMQjnAT5 TOKYO, Apr 24 (News On Japan) - Akira Ikegami engages in a compelling conversation with Enkaku Katsumaru, a former member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Public Security Bureau, Foreign Affairs Division. As part of his series where Ikegami interviews 30 people he is eager to talk to, Katsumaru, third in the series, reveals the little-known exploits of Japan's "spy hunters" who protect the nation from foreign espionage. This is the first episode of a three-part series that delves into unexpected requirements for joining the Public Security Police, tailing techniques, the current state of foreign spies, and even the conflicts with other organizations like the Public Security Intelligence Agency. How do you see the current situation, and what motivated you to become part of the Public Security Police? The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department observes Tokyo, and if you talk about the Criminal Police, they investigate crimes that have already occurred and solve cases. On the other hand, the Public Security Bureau's main focus is to prevent incidents like terrorism and espionage from happening in the first place, so surveillance and monitoring are central to their work. Even within the Public Security Bureau, there is a distinction between domestic radicals and cult monitoring and the Foreign Affairs Police, who monitor and control spies and terrorists within Japan, or those who might assist them. Preventing incidents before they occur is also part of their work. Unlike the Criminal Police, where arresting a murder suspect might garner public praise, the efforts of the Foreign Affairs Police often go unrecognized, as preventing incidents means they are not reported, and we don't often publicize our successes. "THE SYSTEM IS BLINKING RED" (caps for effect) FBI Director Christopher Wray will warn lawmakers later Thursday, [4/11/2024] that there is a growing fear among law enforcement officials of a “coordinated attack” inside the US — weeks after an ISIS assault on a concert hall in Moscow killed 145 people and wounded hundreds more. US officials claim that Washington warned the Kremlin in advance of the attack, but Russian officials failed to take sufficient action to thwart the rampage. [Obviously, US officials have also failed to take sufficient action to thwart the coming rampage. Open borders and twelve million illegals will thwart the efforts of any law enforcement intelligence effort to stop terrorism in this country. When I worked terrorism cases as an FBI Agent before 9/11, it was accepted wisdom that the reason the US did not suffer the same degree of terrorist incidents as Europe was because of "the lack of terrorist infrastructure to support such incidents in the US." It was a lie we told ourselves to explain away the miracle of God watching over our country. Presently, we have multiple layers of "terrorist infrastructure" within the US and a crescendo of academic voices identifying the US as a terrorist state, as well as foreign adversaries dying to exploit this weakness. Director Wray, you do the country a disservice by not calling out these obvious vulnerabilities. Politically, you are controlled but the country will not forgive you if we are attacked due to your political sensibilities. Perhaps it is time for a palace revolt. Surely there are street agents who have risen to senior supervisory positions who could break ranks, name names, and identify specific threats so that the US public could be aware of the magnitude of the threat. Personally, "the system blinking red" warning sounds way too familiar. Respectfully, Michael J. Finnegan, former FBI Agent, 1983-2004 https://lnkd.in/eYY2af98

Addressing Failures and Global Implications: The Importance of Transparency and Planning in American Politics Dr. Turki Faisal Al Rasheed #TurkiFaisalAlRasheed comments at the #Washingtonpost 1. The American president's Secret Service must first acknowledge its failures to both the American people and the global community. 2. The Secret Service should provide a comprehensive account of its failure to protect Mr. Trump. The individual who attempted to assassinate him should never have been able to use an AR-15-style rifle or gain access to the rooftop near Mr. Trump's location. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle should openly address these shortcomings without engaging in a blame game. 3. The Secret Service needs to demonstrate to the American public that its agents can effectively manage the risks associated with retail politicking. This includes allowing presidential candidates to engage with voters closely and enabling voters to assess their leaders without fear. 4. While American elections primarily concern domestic affairs, it is crucial not to underestimate the geopolitical implications they carry. The United States plays a significant role in global decision-making, particularly during periods of geopolitical shifts. The world cannot continue trading with a country that engages in uncontrolled printing of currency. 5. Let's consider the ongoing war in Gaza, which the United States has failed to halt despite being Israel's main supporter and arms supplier. As the only country with the power to end the conflict and initiate a path towards peace, the US must take responsibility. The next president's alignment with the priorities of the European Union and NATO will also be a matter of concern for them, whether it pertains to counterterrorism efforts, piracy, or maritime security. 6. Given the unparalleled authority wielded by American presidents, the identity of the occupant in the White House holds significant importance for the rest of the world. It would be prudent to begin planning for various scenarios that may arise on January 20, 2025, when a new presidential term commences. https://lnkd.in/dcAHFwqM @washingtonpost @PostOpinions #Petrodollar
