FIGHT HIM MAGNUS! Going soft buddy? Call Rapport’s family to see if you can trick his mom into giving you your knight back. The one that you blundered because even the best are human. Ask for a new notation sheet and rip yours up before the arbiter looks. Because no one would argue you are the lesser player here. Ain’t nobody in Bentonville as good in business as he is in chess. There is a difference between being competitors and being lunatics. Winners versus cowards who lucked into some influence so they refuse to resign even when they screwed it up. “Dayton, there was gray area but now that you refused to go to court where we could further torture you and your family, we let Mike Dennis go and are considering how to proceed”. That’s not democracy, freedom of speech or American. But fine! There is no gray area but I’m just a person with a “grievance” right? Here’s the middle ground: - DELETE SECTIONS from your ethics and compliance policies. - CLOSE your health centers. - NEVER promote your mental health resources because my former leadership never informed me they existed. - DO NOT SEND your people officers to well being events. - If it happens again ➡️ FIX IT! Or go be Uber drivers if you don’t the responsibility and Cush life that comes with. Then we’ll call it a draw! Until then, I’m going of the assumption I’ll be winning. Because NO ONE EVER TOLD ME ANYTHING OTHERWISE. During COVID LOCKDOWN! Walmart Corporate: LOSE! https://lnkd.in/gN-maXUT

We Win, They Lose, with Matthew Kroenig | GoodFellows Hoover Institution 8 Aug 2024 Is a regional war across the Middle East about to erupt? And what to make of a Venezuelan regime that doesn’t honor election results? Matthew Kroenig, Vice President and Senior Director of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and coauthor of the book We Win They Lose: Republican Foreign Policy and the New Cold War, joins Hoover senior fellows John Cochrane and H.R. McMaster to discuss lessons from deterrence (or a lack thereof) past, present, and future. Next, John explains how a market meltdown underscores a fragile world economy, followed by a discussion of two historical milestones: 50 years since Richard Nixon’s resignation (with public trust in government today significantly lower than in Watergate’s heyday); and Herbert Hoover’s 150th birthday (as to his humanitarian pursuits, where would our fellows be without Hoover’s namesake institution?).

𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭: 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 There’s a powerful moment in My Own Private Idaho where Keanu Reeves’s character, Scott, says to an old friend: "𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝐼 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑛 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑦𝑜𝑢, 𝑚𝑦 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚𝑒𝑟, 𝑝𝑠𝑦𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑑𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑐 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑟. 𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ 𝐼 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑙𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑚𝑦 𝑑𝑒𝑎𝑑 𝑓𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟, 𝐼 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑛 𝑎𝑤𝑎𝑦." This line captures the bittersweet reality of personal growth: we often outgrow the environments and relationships that once shaped us. But it also reminds us to honor the role those moments played in our journey. Growth doesn’t mean dismissing the people or experiences that defined our past. Instead, it’s about recognizing their value while moving forward toward who we’re becoming. Every teacher, every challenge, and every relationship serves a purpose, even if their role in our story changes over time. Like Scott in this scene—or Tony Manero in Saturday Night Fever, stepping away from his Brooklyn neighborhood to dream of a life beyond—our growth sometimes requires turning away from what’s familiar. It’s not an act of rejection, but one of alignment. It’s about finding people and places that resonate with the person you’re striving to become. To anyone experiencing this transition: it’s okay to love your past and still leave it behind. It’s okay to outgrow your circle and pursue something new. And it’s okay to carry gratitude for what was, even as you step boldly into what will be. Have you ever had to balance moving forward with honoring your past? How did you navigate that change? I’d love to hear your thoughts. #PersonalGrowth #Outgrowing #Gratitude #GrowthMindset #MovingForward https://lnkd.in/efnwgHWb

The actions and words of hypocrites are the seeds of great division, mistrust, discord, war and human catastrophe. The path to peaceful coexistence remains littered with those who believe they are superior to anyone differing from them in anyway and that they are more deserving of equality, the benefits of democracy, freedom and opportunity to pursue happiness. There was a time when people of color, women or of certain religious or ideological beliefs could never be accepted as candidates for any public office or position in the United States of America. But a time came when all were elected or appointed to serve to the best of their abilities. That such a person as Secretary of Transportation, Pete Butigeg is viewed by anyone as unacceptable to serve our nation because he dares to love another man is counter to the success of our democracy and contrary the promises of our nation and such prejudice will also fade as our democracy matures. Secretary Buttigieg’s demeanor, patriotism, talents, intelligence, compassion, calmness, and communication skills are incredibly and undeniably strong. His brilliance in factual, courteous, civil and respectful debate and conversation style is refreshingly positive. Our United States of America is and has always been home to many beliefs and customs. We are a blend of people with different origins, skin color, religious and ideological history and cultural heritages. Dismissing everyone harmlessly different from ourselves is not aligned with the promise nor in the best interest of our nation. Ideological, philosophical and societal hypocrisy exist in people of all walks of life in every corner of the world. We each live our own hypocrisies and act accordingly, but judging people by anything other than their willingness and ability to deliver mutual respect and compassion for others is not productive. It is self-serving, anti-unity and a threat to civil equality and peaceful co-existence. The answers and solutions to universal challenges and common needs must be our focus. We cannot and will not thrive and are doomed to never achieve an optimum co-existence with mutual benefits through prejudicial words and actions. Peoples increasingly intermingle and depend on the whole of our humanity to maintain peace and prosperity. If we are to remain a United States of America “with liberty and justice for all”, peaceful coexistence is a necessity. A focus on our common challenges, threats, needs and desires rather than on differences will better serve us. Accepting that individual do-no-harm-to-other lives of others pursuing individual prosperity, happiness and well being requires at least a modicum of mutual respect, understanding, compassion and tolerance which requires we must be capable of showing the same to those harmlessly different from ourselves.
