The founding team’s drive, know-how, effort, and vision often are the primary motivations behind a VC fund’s investment in a startup. However, what happens when a founder departs – whether voluntarily or at the request of the company’s board? How and why do UK and US market norms differ on the topic of founder exits and non-competition restrictions? 🇬🇧🇺🇸 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eWX_kwYb This resource is the fifth in an ongoing series on transatlantic venture capital from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, which will be included in our US Expansion, Fundraising and Exit FAQ on Medium: https://lnkd.in/ev5PdF8

Among other reasons, a key reason for the below trajectories is the relative development of a domestic venture capital ecosystem which is relatively immune to global waves. Another reason why 🇮🇳 needs to keep building our bedrock of domestic venture capital to support startups -- financial institutions, family offices, HNIs.

Interesting panel at British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) Accelerate conference. Listening to exit strategies in these turbulent times with Ben Shribman Amelia Armour Greg Bennett CFA and Nils Howland. Investor confidence is crucial in the VC market. Without UK companies going public, private equity is less likely to back mid-sized businesses, and VCs won't have buyers for startups. We need to restore investor confidence to pre-Brexit levels.

Not every startup needs VC funding, but how do you know whether yours fits the bill or not? There are too many masterclasses on how to raise funds, but none that outlines how to read into a VCs mind. This is one of the questions I dived in during my conversation with Deepu Sukumaran Nair Some other points of discussion were, how to approach VC firms without wasting anyone’s time, what VCs care about in companies and founders and why founders should invest in brand building for better discovery. It’s been 13 years of my VC journey and this chat was a great unpacking of all ideas I’ve been fortunate to gather in the years. Stay tuned for more insightful nuggets dropping soon.
