The Power Grid of Tomorrow: The AI Divide In technology, there are a few subjects that evoke as much interest and apprehension as #artificialintelligence (#AI). The appeal surrounding AI often stems from its representation in media. And the perception of it being the domain of a select few tech giants. But despite its outward simplicity, there’s a depth of complexity that demands a closer look. In this article, we dive into a recent episode of the Artificial Intelligence After Work Podcast. This AI After Work (AIAW) Podcast episode emphasizes the importance of demystifying AI. Joining us in this episode are Kiryl Zhdanovich, Machine Learning and Data Engineer at Fever and Jonatan Raber, Founder and Chief Product Officer at Fever, alongside Henrik Göthberg. Together, they illuminate the concept of the “AI divide” and its significance. Read the whole article at https://hubs.li/Q02x2WCf0 #Hyperight #Hyperightread

This is a nice article based on our AI After Work (AIAW) Podcast show on AI and the future of our engergy grids. Where we had the fortune to discuss with maybe some of the most advanced start-ups in the world on this topic. The link to the full podcast episode at the end of the article. The key point of the episode was that inorder to get to where we need to be.. The incumbent DSOs and the TSO need to evolve to software and algorithms companies as well as managing the physical grids/assets... Most of the the innovation that is needed is hardcore Software and AI engineering in an extremely data intensive environment... The business case is simple for Sweden. The large DSOs (Network operators) read Vattenfall etc... And the Swedish TSO read Svenska kraftnät are charged by the government to manage peak demand. (Security of Supply). In simple terms. If we need an 8 lane highway on Christmas day, And then the rest of the year we only need two lanes.... The old way. Vattenfall builds 8 lanes. And charge the consumer. In reality this not a number of lanes problem...That is the unintelligent solution. This is more an optimasation, balancing and storage problem... If we only need to build three lanes and use data and AI to optimse the grids... The bill for Sweden is less than half as guestimate.. And having 8 lanes still does not focus on the balancing problem. And this 8-lane investment is SO big because all our grids NOW need to be optmised for two-way energy/ data flow...and not just one direction as the old grids are built for... Its a hot potato... Pink elephant all in one... The 8 lane solution is not economically feasible... Yet this is where the discussion is at. What was discussed on the pod is understood on super high level as an "opportuntiy with AI". But the real depth and the real urgency is not. So this problem is about data/AI/Software know how. Its about how the Government letter of assignment to TSOs and DSOs are set up and it is ultimately about old world logic being applied on new world problems. The solution. It starts with Erik Slottner and infra team working on AI educating and supporting the government in shaping the assignment in such a way that The TSO and the DSOs are steered to focus on opmisation next to security of supply as their highest concern. And then it moves into aligning market mechanisms with this new objective function... And then we have an arena to technically fix it... All data and technolog tech/AI pieces needed exist in its current form in 2024 to make this happen... But some one needs to start caring and investing and putting the right pressure. And steering in the right direction... This is the job of the Government in the end... They need to do their part setting up the goals and targets in the right way... And together with the actors secure funding. Decide the arena How this should be paid... If they do not do their part. No other actors can really move... Dairdux

The best podcast about the limits of AI and the most common problems in IT. The title is a bit harsh, but it is totally worth watching. Find out about the limits of AI and all the problems related to the hype. Don’t get me wrong. There are many use-cases AI will shine, but we need to talk about the fields it will suck. Bare in mind: We are in the heights if the Gartner Hype Cycle now. #AI #Limitations #Hype #Interview Emmanuel Maggiori
