In regions where the #SLP profession is still developing, #otolaryngologists pick up the slack of managing #voicedisorders. The issue is that the training they receive for #dysphonia may not meet practice needs. We found a #dunningkruger effect where #ENTs felt more confident despite reporting poor coverage of specialist voice topics during their training. #research #speechpathology #speechlanguagepathology #speechtherapy #speechlanguagetherapy #survey

In the past 20 years, the field of physical therapy has experienced remarkable advancements, transforming the way we approach rehabilitation and patient care. As a doctor of physical therapy, I've witnessed firsthand the evolution of our profession, from transforming into a doctoral profession to adopting evidence-based practices that optimize patient outcomes. In addition to the remarkable advancements and evidence-based practices, the field of physical therapy has also seen a proliferation of expertise and subspecialties. Physical therapists now specialize in areas such as sports medicine, orthopedics, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, clinical electrophysiology, geriatrics, pediatrics, neurology, pelvic health, and wound care. These specialized areas allow us to tailor treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient, whether they're recovering from a sports injury, managing chronic conditions, or seeking rehabilitation after surgery. Recently, physical therapists have become the frontline primary care for neuromuscular disorders with the Department of Defense (DoD). With our advanced training and expertise in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, physical therapists play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to helping overcome injuries, recover from surgeries, improve function, and enhance overall well-being. This integration of physical therapy into primary care option underscores the importance of our profession in promoting health and resilience across diverse populations. Let's continue to elevate the role of physical therapy and its impact on individuals, communities, and healthcare systems. #DoctorofPhysicalTherapy #PhysicalTherapy #Musculoskeletal

🚀 Client spotlight: Aspire Therapy Alliance 🚀 @aspire_therapy_alliance is a pediatric speech pathology and physiotherapy practice located in a small regional town on the Mid-North Coast of NSW. Given the high demand for their services and limited local supply, they weren’t after a flashy promotional website. Instead, the goal was to create an educational and administrative tool to streamline client inquiries and book qualified leads quickly. 👩⚕️👶 For parents, navigating pediatric therapy can be overwhelming. Often, they’ve spent months—sometimes years—seeking answers. It was important that Aspire Therapy Alliance didn’t feel clinical or cold. The design and tone of the site had to reassure parents that Aspire would provide a comfortable, holistic space where their child’s needs would be understood and addressed with care. Built on @Squarespace, the site not only acts as a preview of how Aspire Therapy Alliance operates, but it also automates much of their client intake process, freeing up time for what really matters: caring for their patients. This project is proof that with a strong understanding of your audience and the right design choices, you can create a functional, impactful tool with just the basics. 🙌 . . . . . #WebDesign #PediatricTherapy #WebsiteLaunch #SpeechPathology #Physiotherapy #Squarespace #AlliedHealth #WebsiteDesign #SmallBusinessWebsite #AussieBusiness #SupportLocal #SmallBiz

"Despite a near parity in the gender ratio of anaesthesiologists, both in academic settings and the profession broadly, there is a conspicuous underrepresentation of women in senior and leadership roles. This imbalance in representation becomes critically relevant in the context of AI-generated imagery. If these images disproportionately depict male anaesthesiologists or assign stereotypical roles to female anaesthesiologists, it could significantly diminish the visibility of women's contributions in the field. Such skewed representations not only perpetuate gender stereotypes, but might also adversely influence career perceptions and aspirations of medical students and patients' perceptions towards anaesthesiologists." https://lnkd.in/dwMjQRGK

What is a Trauma Center? 🏥 In the direst moments, trauma centers are equipped to care for the most severe injuries. 🏥 While emergency departments treat illnesses and injuries, Trauma Centers handle the most life or limb-threatening injuries, including car crashes, brain injuries, serious falls, assaults, gunshot wounds, and severe burns. 🏥 Trauma Center resources vary by center level and can include pre-hospital providers, trauma surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, anesthesiologists, neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, radiologists, and trauma nurses. 🏥 Trauma Centers ensure trauma patients have priority access to diagnostic tests which may include CT scans, ultrasound, and life-saving blood transfusion for the most critically injured. #TraumaCenter #TraumaCare

Interesting and informative article written by a classmate and colleague of mine, who is far more intelligent than I! Great read, looking forward to more research on this topic in the near future!
Jonathan Chen OD, FAAO, FSLS, IACMM, (Vision Source Insight Eyecare) urges clinicians not to abandon #MyopiaManagement in their adult patients, and outlines special considerations for using #OrthoK, #MultifocalContactLenses, and other #MyopiaControl strategies in these individuals. Clinicians have investigated evidence-based #MyopiaControl strategies for decades, and much of the published literature has focused on managing the disorder in children. However, reaching the age of adulthood does not automatically guarantee ceased #MyopiaProgression, although the disorder will likely progress at a slower rate. Addressing this progression in adult patients is important, particularly in adults with #HighMyopia, due to the significantly increased risk of #RetinalDetachment and other #Myopia-related pathologies.1 Read more: https://bit.ly/4ek0xpA #EyeHealth #EyeCare #Optometry #Optometrist #EyeCareProfessional #EyeDoctor #ContactLenses #Orthokeratology #EyeExam #AxialLength #MyopicSER
