About us
In 2007, the Georgia Legislature through Senate Bill 60 established the Georgia Trauma Care Network Commission. The bill charges the Georgia Trauma Commission to establish, maintain, and administer a trauma center network, to coordinate the best use of existing trauma facilities and to direct patients to the best available facility for treatment of traumatic injury and participate in the accountability mechanism for the entire Georgia trauma system, primarily overseeing the flow of funds for system improvement. Georgia Trauma Commission is dedicated to improving the health of injured Georgians by ensuring access to quality trauma care, coordinating key trauma system components, and educating trauma care providers access the multidisciplinary continuum.

Though winter weather can be unpredictable in Georgia, staying prepared is important. Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind as the temperature drops: ❄️ Make certain your tires are properly inflated and have plenty of tread. ❄️ Never warm up a vehicle in an enclosed area, such as a garage. ❄️ Keep a bundle of cold-weather gear in your car. This includes items like extra food and water, warm clothing, a flashlight, a glass scraper, blankets, medications, and more. ❄️ Remove bulky coats before placing children underneath a car seat harness. Bulky clothing makes it difficult to tighten a car seat harness properly. And a loose harness can lead to serious injuries or ejection from the seat during a crash. ❄️ Never drive when impaired by alcohol or drugs (or ride with an impaired driver). Instead, designate a sober driver, use a ride-share service or stay at home. Learn more from HSI below:

December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month. 🚗 Alcohol is only one cause of impaired driving. Drugs — including opioids, marijuana, and some over-the-counter medicines — can impair driving by causing drowsiness, altering visual functions and affecting mental judgment and motor skills. Other factors, such as fatigue and stress, also can impair your ability to drive. Drivers should avoid driving while impaired by any of these factors, just as they would if they consumed alcohol.
