Today is Human Rights Day, which commemorates one of the world's most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This year’s theme, “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now,” reminds us that human rights and our future are built right now. It’s a call to action to speak up against hate speech, correct misinformation and disinformation, and mobilize efforts to reinvigorate a global movement for human rights. Human rights and sustainability are deeply connected. The UDHR's principles of equality, dignity, and justice form the foundation for creating sustainable solutions that benefit people and the planet. Our work to transform invasive algae into eco-friendly products aligns with these values, promoting fair practices, supporting coastal communities, and addressing environmental challenges that impact vulnerable populations globally. Sustainability...this word is used so often these days that it's so easy to lose sight of what it really means. And while it's important that we focus on doing everything we can to live more "sustainably", lets not forget one of foundations of sustainability is equality. Number 1 on the United Nations list of 17 sustainable development goals is NO POVERTY, followed by ZERO HUNGER. The list also includes GENDER EQUALITY and REDUCED INEQUALITIES.
