Human Rights Day: Driving Sustainable Equality Together At Sama Sustainability, we believe sustainability goes hand in hand with human rights. As we mark Human Rights Day, we’re reminded of our shared responsibility to create a world where dignity, freedom, and equality are universal truths—not distant ideals. This year, we’re highlighting UN Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities. For us, this isn’t just about addressing income gaps; it’s about ensuring fair access to opportunities, resources, and representation for all—across communities, businesses, and nations. Reducing inequalities is a critical step toward a sustainable future. It’s about creating systems where no one is left behind and where diversity fuels innovation and resilience. How we’re contributing: - Collaborating with businesses to embed equity into their sustainability strategies. - Partnering with organizations to foster inclusive growth. - Raising awareness about the intersection of human rights and sustainability. How can you contribute? - Advocate for equitable and inclusive policies in your organization. - Support initiatives that promote representation and justice. - Join us in amplifying the message of Goal 10. This Human Rights Day, let’s take action to bridge the gaps and build a world where everyone can thrive. #HumanRightsDay #Sustainability #SDG10 #ReducedInequalities #SustainableDevelopment #SamaSustainability

June 5 is #WorldEnvironmentDay, an international moment to celebrate the #changemakers who strive to protect our planet and its inhabitants. Their work spans advocacy, education, and academic studies to #conservation efforts and #sustainable business practices. We know that #ClimateChange exacerbates existing inequalities, acting as a “threat multiplier” that aggravates gender-based violence while simultaneously curtailing the availability and effectiveness of protection mechanisms. Child marriage, sexual violence, and sexual and labor exploitation all rise in the wake of climate disasters and environmental breakdown, and displacement creates greater barriers to reporting violations and accessing essential services. Safeguarding our planet’s ecosystem requires a gender-responsive, #HumanRights-based approach that tackles the root causes of women’s inequality and marginalization. Securing women’s rights isn't just the right thing to do — it's also the best way to build a resilient, inclusive, and livable future for everyone. From Ella Daish and Sylvia Earle, to Winona LaDuke and Ania Sauku, to celebrate #WorldEnvironmentDay, here are few of the inspirational women leading the environmental movement:

During the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights Forum, the UN Working Group presented an important report on Human Rights, Investors and ESG. HACE was delighted to contribute to this report 📜 The report highlights that many investors have an opportunity to strengthen the connection between human rights standards and ESG criteria, as there is potential for greater understanding and integration. The UN Working Group's report raises awareness, clarifies investors' obligations under the UNGPs, and offers recommendations for aligning investment practices with human rights and sustainability goals. We are excited to share our involvement alongside HACE’s Strategic Advisor, Chris Turpin and be a part of this crucial discussion towards this impactful report. Here is a key quote from our contribution: “Investors have truly significant leverage, largely through their ability to engage with Executives in their portfolio companies and call for action. These calls for action will be heard much faster and louder by companies than if they are lobbied by NGOs, activists, the consumer, small businesses or governments.” #UNForumBHR #BizHumanRights #UnitedNations #HumanRights #ESG #ChildLabour #Sustainability #ChildLabor

As Earth Day approaches, we want to spotlight the convergence of environmental sustainability and feminist principles. Our commitment to intersectional environmentalism is more than a philosophy—it's a practice. Over the past two years, we've engaged on climate change projects, constantly drawing from eco-feminist discourse. This Earth Day, we encourage you to integrate an eco-feminist lens into your conversations about environmental justice. Let's recognize and elevate the roles of women, non-binary individuals, and other equity-deserving groups who are at the forefront of environmental advocacy. Join us in fostering discussions around environmental issues that are comprehensive, and acknowledge the interconnectedness of race, gender, and socioeconomic status with environmental sustainability. Let’s commit to a more inclusive and sustainable future. #EarthDay2024 #IntersectionalEnvironmentalism #EcoFeminism #SpurCommunication #SustainableFuture https://lnkd.in/gkSK9BWw

Equality vs. Equity: Making Things Fair for Everyone Think of a fence where some are tall and others are short. Equality tries to adjust the height so everyone sees over the fence equally. Equity goes a step further by removing the fence altogether, so everyone has a fair chance. Equality is about giving everyone the same opportunities to start, while equity focuses on making sure everyone can succeed no matter where they begin. It's not about being the same but having the same chance to do well and share resources. We need to learn about and talk about the unfair things happening around us, like water problems and waste issues. We must open our eyes to these problems and work together to make things better. At We, The World, we inspire, inform, and involve everyone. Let's work together to create a world where everyone has a fair shot at success! #FairForAll #InspiredInclusion #WeTheWorld #TogetherWeCan
