We have a mental health crisis in America coupled with chronic underinvestment. This is no more true than in communities of color that can suffer from inequity, lack of access and discrimination. At AbsoluteCare, we are trying to do our (small) part to create access to integrated care considering the whole person including care for behavioral health and substance use disorders. Frankly, with prodding from our clinical leaders, we have expanded our behavioral and addiction expertise now into every community we serve. But, it is not enough and we all need to do better. #beyondmedicine.
July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month. At AbsoluteCare, we believe in the power of community and the importance of mental health for all. By sharing our stories, genuinely listening to one another, and offering unwavering support, we can build a more inclusive and understanding environment where mental well-being is a priority for everyone. Join us in promoting mental health awareness and positively impacting BIPOC communities. #beyondmedicine #BIPOCMentalHealth

World Mental Health Day 2024: A Call to Care for Ourselves Today, on World Mental Health Day, we are reminded of the importance of raising awareness and breaking the stigma around mental health. It’s also a time to reflect on our own experiences and the critical work being done within healthcare to support individuals with mental health challenges. To my fellow colleagues in healthcare, who tirelessly work to care for others—whether directly supporting those with mental health concerns or experiencing secondary trauma in the process—this is a reminder that taking care of ourselves is just as important. We often prioritize our clients, but it’s essential to extend that same level of care to ourselves. When we nurture our own well-being, we are in a stronger position to provide the best support to those who need us. Let today and this week be a reminder to seek balance, prioritize self-care, and lean on each other for support. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful difference. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAwareness #SelfCare #HealthcareProfessionals
