I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport L2 from England Rugby! Last week I travelled to Manchester to complete the practical element of the PHICIS 2 course. This has given me a greater depth of knowledge and skill set to deal with life threatening trauma within sport and have learnt to deal with a higher level of assessment and treatment in the emergency care of players such as: - Life support - Airway management and ventilation - Breathing and chest trauma - Circulation and shock - Head injuries and concussion - Facial injuries - Spinal injuries - MSK trauma - Wound management - Medical equipment - Medical Gases - Emergency action planning

All studies have demonstrated a preventive effect of Nordic hamstring training on the risk of injury. However, as reported by Biz et al. (2021) the results should be interpreted with caution because there are very few conclusive studies. This is also evident from the meta-analyses/systematic reviews of the other authors. In the studies, very few subjects are usually used and the quality is usually not high. In their review, van Dyk et al. (2019)examined the risk minimization of hamstring injuries in men and women, different age groups and regardless of sport. In general, it can be said that the wide range of criteria is met and a broad mass has been covered, but the studies are therefore not homogeneous, as the interventions in the sports can be used in a very multivariable way.

🚨 𝗘𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗘𝗗𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 🚨 With school sports back in full swing, it's crucial to make sure that Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are professionally managed and ready to respond at the point of rescue. • Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in young athletes during sports. In fact: • 1 in 300 student athletes have an undiagnosed heart condition that puts them at risk for SCA. • Every year, approximately 7,000 young people under the age of 18 experience SCA. • Immediate use of an AED increases survival rates by up to 90% when used within the first few minutes of collapse. • Don't wait for an emergency to realize your AEDs aren’t prepared. • The time to prepare is NOW. • Let’s protect our student athletes by staying ahead of the game. Rely on a partner who understands the importance of maintaining your AEDs, ensuring they are always response-ready and capable of saving lives when every second counts. #SchoolSports #AED #SuddenCardiacArrest #SCA #StudentAthletes #SafetyFirst #LifeSaving #athletictrainer #schoolnurse #AEDserviceAmerica

IELTS Preparation Resources📚✨ By Dr. Sarah Zia 🇨🇦 To those who reached out to me to find IELTS links. Here are some of the links where you practice your test. 1) Ielts-exam.net is one of the largest IELTS preparation sites. You will find all the information you need for each part of the exam. 2) https://lnkd.in/ddu-vwhK - the international organization of the British Council conducts IELTS in all countries of the world. On this site you will get a lot of useful information, which is presented in the form of tips and short articles. 3) Examenglish.com - On this site you will find many useful tests to help you practice before taking IELTS. All assignments are in the format of the assignments for the exam!!! 4) Examword.com - This resource is not intended for practicing speech skills, but for increasing your vocabulary. If you want to pass the exam for a high score, then you cannot do without a rich vocabulary. 5) Ieltsforfree.com - here you can take the whole test or practice individual parts. Personal study tips: *Always plan ahead of writing. That was the best strategy! *In the real test i wrote 160 words in task 1 (min limit 150) and 260 in task 2 (min limit 250) *In task 1 stick to the task they are looking for. So either comparison, describe the process, summarize key points. Just do what they ask and you can find the task 1 vocab on ielts Liz and Fastrack ielts website. Use them and stay on task to achieve required score. *For task 2 again focus on task, there are types of essay in task 2 so make sure to familiarize with the type and then take a side. Start with introduction, 2 body paragraphs and summary. Make sure to mention in intro about what you will write in body paragraphs. *YouTube ielts band 9 videos from Ielts advantage, E2 and Fastrack were my best resources! *Practice, practice and practice! What I’ve learned from all the exams is practice is key! Use cambridge books and authentic cambridge resources. I tested with IDP and got the required Academic Ielts band 7.5 in each and all in first attempt by following this strategy. Hope it’s helpful! All the best! #ieltsexam #canada #mcc #physicians #familymedicine #saskatchewan For any questions ask the author at https://lnkd.in/dteu6ekf

Did you know that all USA Olympic Athletes get an ECG at USOPC training facilities? Yet, we accept a stethoscope exam with some questions for our kids. Many would rather "opt-out" than get an ECG because you may need to wait an extra 10 minutes. It's always shocks me to see the number of parents who'd "rather not" screen. Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in sports and all ages at school. It doesn't care about age, level of play, race, or gender. Remember CPR basics for adults: ❤️ 2 hands center of the chest, lower half of breastbone ❤️At least 2 inches of compression depth ❤️30:2 compression to breath radio ❤️Stop each breath when you see the chest rise ❤️100 to 120 compression rate per minute (no medical training or do not feel comfortable giving breaths - do compressions) ❤️No delay in compressions over 10 secs. As we start back to school and fall sports, remember to … ✅ Have your kid screened ✅Ask if an emergency plan for the sports team ✅Know where AED is and if everyone on the team knows where it is ✅Check the batteries and pad on the AED ✅Take a basic CPR course @whoweplayfor #sportspharmcacy #suddencardiacawarness #sportsmedicine #sportsperformance #athlete #communitypharmacist

Mobilisation is a high-risk task for both the caregiver and client when assisted mobility is required. It involves complex interactions between the musculoskeletal, nervous and cardiopulmonary systems. As such even small deficits such as strength, coordination, proprioception and sensation can translate to unsafe gait. Mobility has a disproportionate impact on independence and function, as walking underpins most other activities of daily living. Maintenance of a functional gait will form a primary goal for most clients and assistive technology can be implemented to positively impact outcomes. Completing mobilisation tasks and assisting with gait can be safely accomplished by even one therapist or caregiver when the client is secured by an ambulation sling suspended from a floor or ceiling lifter. If the person falls, they will be gently rescued by the sling and can then return to balanced standing. A much-reduced risk of injury to the client and the assistant. This becomes particularly important when mobilising with a person of size. Bariatric Clients benefit significantly from progressive mobilisation training and the use of an ambulation sling ensures confidence, safety and dignity. Molift offers a range of solutions to support safe function and mobilisation. Novis proudly utilise these solutions to ensure a successful individualised #AssistiveTechnology system is implemented to provide safe and effective mobilisation. Take a look at this video for more: https://hubs.la/Q02J949S0 #NovisHealthCare #EnablingIndependence #Molift
