📈 Data-Driven ACL Rehab for Athletes 🦵🏽 Just started working with Arie, a 33-year-old footballer from the Cayman Islands, two days into her ACL rehab journey. We began with comprehensive movement testing using DorsaVi and The Quick Board. Why? Because understanding her baseline neuromuscular control and reaction time is critical for tailoring her training plan. 💪🏽 Strength coaches, here's the takeaway: Technology-driven insights allow us to make better decisions for athletes coming back from injury. Instead of guessing, we're using objective data to improve single-leg strength, reaction times, and deceleration mechanics. 👨🏼⚕️🧑🏽⚕️ PTs: Combining technology-driven insights with active recovery methods helps ensure optimal healing while keeping athletes focused on progress. Excited to share a new tool I’ve created: the ORPAS GPA Converter I noticed many students applying to physiotherapy programs were struggling to figure out their GPA on ORPAS's standardized 4.0 scale. Seeing the confusion and frustration, I decided to build a simple tool to help. After some late nights and a lot of testing, I’m happy to release the ORPAS GPA Converter—a free tool that makes calculating your GPA easier using ORPAS’s official conversion table. If you’re applying to physio schools in Ontario or know someone who is, give it a try! I hope this saves you time and simplifies the process. Try it out here 🔗: https://lnkd.in/eu5F5URT

Part 3: Success Stories and Broader Impact Post Title: Enhancing Rehabilitation with the Gait Harness System: Success Stories and Broader Impact Post Content: In the final part of our series, we share inspiring success stories and discuss the broader impact of using the Gait Harness System (GHS). Success Stories: Overcoming the Hump I have numerous examples of people overcoming significant challenges, regaining their function with the support of a dedicated therapy team from home and in the clinic. One such person is Knute. Knute was 11 years old when he experienced a traumatic brain injury following an automobile accident. He had not walked since, being at high risk for falls. Twenty-two years later, Knute began his journey with the GHS. Knute learned to walk again without any braces or computerized assistance, safely with trained family members and staff members using the GHS. He began walking just a few steps and now walks up to 800 feet per session. After 23 wheelchair-bound years, Knute has made remarkable progress in a short period of time and continues to surpass expectations. His story is a testament to the power of consistent, challenging therapy and the GHS’s role in providing the necessary support for overground training. Knute experienced the stimulation and sensation of sensory feedback with his feet on the ground and moving his legs, which were critical in helping him get over the hump. Knute’s success is a powerful example of the progress that can be achieved when patients are challenged at the level they need. The Bigger Picture According to pre-COVID data from the CDC, about 40 million people in the home are confined or need help walking every day. This number has likely increased due to COVID-related health issues that have affected people's ability to walk since 2020. There is so much more that can be done for these individuals, and the GHS is a crucial tool in this effort. Conclusion While initial hesitation is natural, the overwhelming evidence and extensive experience with the GHS highlight that there is no better time to start using the system than right now. By doing so, you can take a significant step towards helping your patients regain their mobility and independence. How do you know an athlete or client is ready to get back to what they love doing? It's not always easy, and having some objective measures is also valuable, but to answer the question, you still need to work through a scale of progressive demand. You want to add layers of demand. In this video, I take you through a process of layering demand on an injured knee with a slopestyle skier. Absorption, higher degrees of torque, propulsion, higher degrees of torque, and then combined actions. The same could be applied to the single leg as well. From discharge out of physical therapy back to their sport, the athlete will have a guided solution to achieve success! In most PT clinics care is provided from 0-4 to 6 months, which can get the patient back to running but not much beyond, because of their lack of open space, equipment, and insurance constraints. Also, when going to PT they are only treating the injured area which can leave you susceptible to a re-tear or a tear of the other ACL.. People have said physical therapy has become too easy and repetitive or insurance has run out and they end up doing basic rehab on their own or don’t do rehab at all. Insurance not covering any additional treatment leaves you in a vulnerable sitiuation. These 5 STEPS will be your FRAMEWORK: 1. Regain Neuromuscular Control by bringing symmetry between Quads/Hamstrings. 2. Improve Core Strength to decrease injury risk and increase athletic ability. 3. Improve Quality of jumping, hopping, and bounding to decrease fear of re-injury 4. Teach Proper Deceleration mechanics to improve stopping and starting, which which is the ability to change direction. 5. Understand How to Properly condition to prepare for RETURN TO SPORT. ☑️ ACL RECOVERY PROGRAM ☑️ RETURN 2 TESTING ☑️ ACL ONLINE PROGRAM www.ACLR2Pacademy.com #aclrehab

The American Heart Association's National Walking Day was April 3rd. Consider walking with, the evidence-based Vizziq Neuromuscular Trainer. Evidence suggests training 20 minutes, 3 times per week improves gait mechanics: Stride length. Gait Speed. Posture. Confidence. Rotation and Symmetry. https://lnkd.in/gys8ZDXJ Don’t just walk, start Vizziq Training today and reduce your risk of falling. Visit Vizziq.com to learn more. Walking ability can strongly correlate with risk of falls, especially in older adults. Sidaway et. al., looked at how well older adults could walk on a 9cm wide beam. There was a significant difference between gait parameter variability between fallers and non-fallers at follow-up and future falls correlated with distance walked on the 9cm beam. Walking as exercise can be beneficial, but also indicative of a patient’s functional status. That is why it is the sixth vital sign! Ask your personal trainer or healthcare provider if Vizziq is right for you! Learn more about this study here: https://lnkd.in/gWTYayzJ. #NationalWalkingDay #Walk #WalkwithVizziq #Vizziq #Trainer
