Volunteering makes the world a nicer place... It's volunteering week and as ever, the team are helping to find local people opportunities both within our projects and locally with trusted organisations. - Volunteering is a great stepping stone into or back into employment. Work experience, upskilling and building back after a break. - Volunteering is good for health & wellbeing. Physically & mentally a great way to stay in shape. A good way to meet and interact with others. Grow from the sense of giving. Restore your faith in others. - Volunteering helps support the systems that support vunerable people. Charities need volunteers to do the work that they do to underpin public services. Not everything can be a paid job or service...sometimes we just need to help others, because it is the right thing to do. We also hope that in our times of need, there will be volunteers to support us too. If you already volunteer or are an organisation / group that facilitates volunteering - well done and thank you! #charity #Solihull #volunteersweek #community #health

Do your employees organise their own volunteering? - you should read this: 💥Some of the biggest blockers for would-be volunteers are: 👉🏼 Overwhelm - so many charities, where to start? 👉🏼 Hassle of organising - it can take 2-3 months to hear back from a charity once you’ve reached out. 👉🏼 Expected time commitment - do I really have to take a FULL day out? So disruptive… 👉🏼 No easy, structured way to access impactful opportunities 🤔 Think about it: You wouldn't just tell your team "Hey, we offer therapy!" and leave them to find their own therapist, right? 💚 Volunteering should work the same way – using a volunteering platform makes it easy for your team to find amazing ways to give back! Just like mental health platforms, change-makers across the UK are turning to dedicated volunteering platforms to boost engagement and track the impact their team are creating 🌎 You can read more eye-opening stats on corporate volunteering here: https://lnkd.in/evxdKaKD ++++++++++++++++++++ 💥 Myth-busting Mondays are here! 🫶🏼 Follow Matchable Volunteering for more tips on volunteering, purpose and impact, one Monday at a time! #volunteering #employeevolunteering #charity #givingback #BCorp #techforgood #socialimpact

Meet the Founder - Erick Nwanshi Helping Out In My Community Volunteering has been a core part of my schedule for several years now and has increased since the pandemic. The tasks I do are fairly standard and occur regularly, which makes it easier for me to fit them into my schedule. Starting out, committing to volunteering can sound overwhelming, but it’s rarely the case. I was able to go through a pattern of building up my volunteering activities where the needs were either always at the same time of the week or had sufficient flexibility to slot into an available window. At the moment I work with three different nonprofit organisations: a help hub, a food bank, and my church. Each have unique needs, and sometimes varied tasks. The one common theme is they all open you up to a sense of diverse challenges in the community. Helping a local charity with their services by playing a small part does provide a sense of accomplishment and helps to build stronger community ties. The area I work with that I feel is most impactful is helping vulnerable people with tasks they cannot do for themselves. This is also where I was most taken aback. We all face difficulties, but it does not always occur to us how many tasks we take for granted are a challenge to others. There is a growing demand for services provided by nonprofit organisations. This is at a time when the funding gap continues to increase. Join the InitiateAPP movement today and bring hope to communities facing growing challenges. Next Up: Looking Ahead with InitiateAPP! Volunteering increases 50% around the holidays and drops dramatically after... These seasonal volunteers are a spectrum. Among them are the grinches of the non-profit world :). I’m talking about CGs. Convenient Givers: (noun) those who volunteer to meet some corporate social responsibility quota. Their volunteering is less about the mission and more about personal comfort—they only do it when it’s easy, on their own terms, and expecting a premium experience. As opposed to: Volunt-reals: selfless individuals who sacrifice their time and resources to support beautiful causes, often from the little they own. Yes, certain frustrations with nonprofits are legitimate, but remember that many nonprofits have limited resources. They need various professional services but can’t afford it. My advice is to approach volunteering with an open heart and a willingness to adapt. Go in not just to “feel good,” but to make a real difference. Give without conditions and trust that your contributions—whether big or small—will have a meaningful effect, both on the cause and in your own life. #volunteering #givingback

As we forge ahead into 2024, a critical challenge that many charities are confronting is the persistent volunteer shortage. Surprisingly, new data shows that 60% of non-profits are grappling to fill volunteer positions. 🤔 The burning question is: How can we close the volunteerism gap in our communities? Examination of the situation suggests that our economic climate plays a substantial role. With living costs soaring, numerous individuals struggle to find spare time as they manage a multitude of commitments and tight financial constraints. There's a silver lining, though, with more companies stepping up through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by offering paid volunteering days. This encourages employees to contribute to charitable causes without the pressure of income loss. Moreover, charities are responding by crafting more adaptable roles and employing digital innovations to integrate volunteer activities into our fast-paced, modern life. 🚀 It's all about creating volunteer opportunities that align with the current needs of our unsung heroes. While non-profits are evolving, there is room for improvement. It's time to ignite a dialogue. What approaches can we take to make volunteering more accessible to those with busy schedules? And what role should the evolving economic backdrop play in facilitating these changes? #Volunteering #NonProfitChallenges #CommunityEngagement #CSR #CorporateVolunteering
