Will shares his journey, insights on fractional solopreneurship, and how to navigate challenges in today’s market landscape.
People aren't products.
If you're in services, don't follow dogmatic product marketing advice on how to position yourself.
Especially if you're in business on your own.
There are plenty of good principles to shape into how you do that. But please, please don't follow some positioning-by-number template you may find on here or in the aether.
A lot of those are designed for products, not people.
You don't need a feature / benefit / use case breakdown like some piece of software.
You're a person, not a product.
Imagine if I had a "Will vs. Consultant X" web page where I tore down all of the things Consultant X was bad at and I, in my own estimation, was superior at.
Even if it was true, that's gross.
Because people are people and not products.
Find what feels right for you, articulate it, see what the market thinks of it, learn from it, iterate it, and keep putting yourself out there.

On a recent episode of our Tech Uncensored podcast, Stephen McCabe, Co-Founder and CEO of QuickCasa, helped us dive deeper into the defining processes and best practices that startups can apply in the early stages of their product development. ⏰📝
Here is what he shared about launching an MVP:
“The easiest way to make sure you’re scoping an MVP properly is to work from the end back. You start out with the core problem you’re solving, and then start to glue on things that you need to build that MVP to solve that core problem, and have a really frank conversation with yourself every time you step back explaining why that needs to be there.“
By starting from the core problem and gradually adding components, founders can avoid common misconceptions and ensure their MVP addresses the needs of their target audience. 📣

In our latest podcast episode, Francis Brero of MadKudu sheds light on a pivotal aspect for startup founders-
'Founders are sellers. Even if you're a product person, when you're starting, you are the first seller of the company.'
This revelation is particularly crucial for product-focused founders who may shy away from their inherent role in sales.
Francis addresses the common misconception among product founders that there is something 'dirty' about selling or asking customers for money.
