Operation of a possible national road pricing scheme will require a carefully selected and balanced mix of public and private sector capabilities. But what might the options be and what is more likely?

The Transportation Commission has voted to advance a pair of options for possible toll-rate adjustments on the State Route 520 bridge this summer. The toll rate changes are being considered for the currently tolled bridge. The two options are: ◼️ An across-the-board 10 percent toll rate increase for all times of the day and days of the week, with increases that range from $0.15 to $0.45 depending on the time of day/day of the week. ◼️ A tailored toll-rate increase averaging 10 percent overall, with fewer rate variations and adjustments ranging from a decrease of $0.10 to an increase of $0.70, depending on the time of day/day of the week. The Commission will get further analysis on the rate increases and release a survey for public input this spring. Roads aren’t the only solution. It is the least creative solution for greater mobility. We have to be more critical and creative unlocking already existing infrastructure to further improve mobility. #mobility

The programme will have a budget of €40 million.

The Albanese Government has delivered few changes for the infrastructure sector in a Federal Budget that prioritised cost-of-living support for households, says industry think tank Infrastructure Partnerships Australia. “Tonight was neither a scorched-earth nor a free-for-all-spending budget,” said Infrastructure Partnerships Australia, Chief Executive Adrian Dwyer. “After years of accelerating infrastructure spending, tonight’s Budget confirms the halcyon days of year-on-year infrastructure spending growth are now firmly in the rearview mirror. “Federal general government infrastructure funding is now at $60.5 billion over the four years to FY2027-28, $1.8 billion – or three per cent – lower than last year’s total. “This allocation represents 1.92 per cent of total general government spending, with this Budget’s four-year spend being $9.6 billion above the infrastructure expenditure long-term trend of 1.61 per cent of general government expenditure." #infrastructureaustralia #australiabudget #budget2024 #infrastructurespending #civilengineering #construction #sydneymetro #crossriverrail #bigbuild
