Curious to hear about a failed closing? It’s not often we highlight unhappy endings! For confidentiality purposes, we will refer to this fund as ‘Fund VC’. 🚀 Our journey with Fund VC began with optimism in the VC Lab accelerator, securing PACTs and showcasing strong initial traction. 💫 As commitments reached an impressive $4.5M, excitement was high. Fund VC was ready to start their formation and move into their first close with the help of the Decile Partners team. 😱 When moving to solidify these commitments into LPAs, the expected support crumbled. Many investors went MIA or had other priorities, leaving the fund far from its first close goal. ⚓ The fund's heavy reliance on a single anchor LP ($2M) was its Achilles' heel. When this LP and others backed out, the fund faced a significant setback. 👎 Facing a shortfall, the fund's initial close fell through, securing only a fraction ($600K) of the expected commitments. ⏩ We worked closely with Fund VC for strategic reassessment. By refining communication and strategies with Decile Partners, the fund aimed to rebuild and move forward.
