Please complete the survey to support the L2 standard
Not sure what is going on with LinkedIn and it’s algorithms but sharing this for one final time. We now have 850 responses to the Level 2 Administration Assistant Trailblazer Group survey but would really like to get to over 1000. Please can everyone in the sector, who is passionate about this missing rung on the ladder of opportunity complete the survey and encourage your networks to do so too? We have extended the deadline to Friday 27th September. #apprenticeships #socialmobility #entrycareers Lisa Shepherdson Sharon Blyfield OBE Jo Simovic David Pautsch https://lnkd.in/ePX6qsra

Does your workplace support Apprenticeships? If so, you may want to add your thoughts to this survey: The proposed level 2 administration assistant standard has been designed as an entry level occupation across functions and departments within an organisation. It is anticipated that, if approved, it will be developed alongside the planned revision of the level 3 business administration standard to ensure clear and distinct differentiation between the two standards. If you would like to add your workplaces thoughts to this proposal - please fill the form in below. If you have questions please reach out to Lucy Hunte who is part of the Trailblazer Group leading this project. #apprenticeships #socialmobility #entrycareers

Hi there future lawyers! ❤️ For those starting their on the job training this month, I wanted to offer a few things which may be of use: ⏩You’ve secured your training place as you deserve it, so don’t let that imposter creep in! ⏩If you have a personality, show it. Lawyers are humans too and clients appreciate realness and if you’re relatable you’re half way there to communicating with clients effectively (and ideally in plain, unpretentious language). ⏩Questions will lead to answers. So ask them. But there’s no harm in you doing some research and taking initiative yourself before beckoning someone to provide the answer. Channel that inner self-starter whenever you can! ⏩Communicate. Even if you feel you’re over communicating. ⏩Make time for everyone, no matter what title or role they have in the business. At some point you’ll need to lean on/ in to, everyone (and vice versa). You’re part of a team and everyone is important. ⏩Be open to feedback and use it to improve. In an industry where you’re performing in 6 minute units, people giving you the gift of their time is a big deal. They’re trying to help you! ⏩Try not to worry. It’s a job. It won’t be a dream every day and that’s ok. It’s called work for a reason as it’s tough and demanding. ⏩Metrics are your friend. Log your time as you go, and it’ll soon move in the right direction. ⏩Life was a bit of a competition before now. the right grades were key. Now you’re a teammate, and everyone thrives mucking in collectively, so roll up your sleeves! ⏩Familiarise yourself with the Code of Conduct (solicitors) / BSB Handbook (barristers) and be a good human being and you’ll not go far wrong. …. I was terrified all day every day when I was a trainee. In earnest, I regret that I didn’t enjoy it. I really hope you do! A new career is a great opportunity but it shouldn’t fill you with dread. Life’s too short not to enjoy it. ❤️ 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼My experienced friends, if there is anything you wished you’d known at the outset of your careers, feel free to add in anything in the comments! 📸 of me as a trainee. I had just finished the advocacy element of the Practical Skills course and forced my cohort to take an “advoca-selfie”. Yes, I am still extra. And most of us from the course do still keep in touch. 😊 #TraineeLawyers #Trainees #Solicitors #Barristers #JuniorLawyers #Career #NewChapter #TrainingContract #CareersAdvice

Hey guys, A few of you have text about where to find a TC and how to get past the dreadful “unfortunately “ message in your emails. So I thought I would drop a few tips on how I personally managed to secure over 3 training contracts whilst still studying and be sharing where to actually find a TC. The first thing I do after finding a firm is sit down and just look at their key values, and search into the firm a bit more and figure out what they actually expect from their new intakes and staff, as key values is something that really makes the firm a firm and that is something they really stand on. After this I try to interact with employees already in the firm, KEY TIP: get to know these individuals and make a good connection as they will help a lot, I will explain why further down. After this I hit that apply button, and get started with the application, doing the norm such as entering qualifications etc, after this or before this whichever will come first as some firm websites operate differently, you get the experience page, and here is where people mess up, its been proven that only 1-3% of individuals actually secure a training contract, so you need to stand out, rack that experience up!, there is no reason you cannot, as forage placements are completely free and put by actual firms, just by doing one of these on FORAGE, you have already completed a placement, heads up if your applying for a firm DO A PLACEMENT FOR THAT FIRM, almost every firm is on forage so take advantage of it!. After this add your experience, if that be working in Mcdonalds or being a partner in a world leading firm enter that info, if your experience is non law related, heres the best tip, remember the part about researching the company values, you need to adjust your skills and link them with the values, for example: say you have worked in project management. One skill for that would be teamwork, and now say the firm you are applying for has a value of teamwork and diversity, you already are mixing yourself in with the values, you get the gist?. After this you get onto the part why only 1-3% of applicants succeed, the firm questions, here is where you NEED to be using the STAR method, (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Give the situation, (challenging situation), task, (what were you asked to do?),Action (what did you do), Result (what was the outcome). Just by using this simple layout you are already ahead of others, Another thing is that dreadful “why do you want to work for us” question which everybody gets speechless on, as it is just such a strange question, but here is how I answer it, key values are back, for example diversity, you align each point with the key values showing your interest, from my opinion this is what the firm seeks. Now you ask your new linkedIn friend if they can be your reference enter their name and you now also have a in firm reference. Enjoy! Here’s where i find TC’s https://lnkd.in/dQK_itnF

#newstoryofprofession Never confine yourself to a particular skill, role or zone. You never know where life will sway you in the next moment. Confining yourself within limitations of your educational background, profile, or area, may leave you endangered amidst crisis situations in the industry. No profession is having a lack of opportunities to learn and explore. Give your 100% to accomplish anything you come across in your respective roles. Now or later you are going to count on the knowledge or experience gained from those tasks only. #Professionfacts #corporatetalks #learnings #careercounseling #linkedinconnections

It's a beautiful sight... All these Executive Assistants Have just completed their training and now they begin shadowing. On a job training is so important... We run out of VA's 's all the time and it's because it's just hard to find the right people... For these we just hired and trained... 86 people were rejected... You hire the best.... It only hurts once.... I wasted so many years hiring the wrong people... That's one of the most expenses mistakes.... #SelectionProcess #QualityOverQuantity #FindingTheRightPeople

Lessons as a trainee counselor.. ✅ The question you ask determines the answer you get. Spend time asking the right questions. ✅ Listening is a superpower. People don’t need you to fix them—they need to feel heard. ✅ Most emotional wounds heal in silence and safety, not in noise and chaos. ✅ Growth is messy. ✅ You can't help someone who isn’t ready to help themselves. ✅ "How can I help?" >>>>> "Here’s what you should do." ✅ You’ll never regret pausing to breathe before responding—professionally or personally. ✅ People won't remember your advice. They’ll remember how safe you made them feel. ✅ It's OK to not have all the answers. The best counselors don’t—they ask better questions. ✅ Change happens when people feel safe enough to risk discomfort. This is my list, I would love to read yours 👇

To progress your career in practice, you need to move from being a great technician into someone who can be relied upon to win good quality work. To do that, you will need to differentiate yourself from your peers AND the more experienced members of your practice. If you are to come out of the shadow of your partners and start to win your own work you need to be known for something, i.e. your niche. In fact, if you want to move your career from senior associate, or manager to partner then you will need this niche to progress. I created the How to Choose Your Niche self-study course for Progress to Partner Academy. The course takes you through a step-by-step the process to decide on your niche(s), When you work through The How to Choose Your Niche course in Progress to Partner Academy (approx 3-4 hours) you will: ✅️ Have understood the different types of niche you could choose and that your niche doesn’t necessarily need to be sector-specific. ✅️ Have chosen your niche(s) ✅️ Have explored what your niche is really buying from you and how you help them. ✅️ Have created a number of Client Personas to help you focus your marketing efforts to attract the right type of client work to you.
