At the provincial scale, we consider 20 different categories of human footprint (in turn made up of 117 specific types, such as such as dugout, pipeline or trail) one by one and all at once to report on the status of human footprint in an online report. I am thrilled to share my latest project: a Land Cover Map of the Oforikrom Municipality in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. This is my first Land Cover map, created after a week of dedicated learning. While I have previously drawn contextual, locational, and elevation maps, this marks my entry into Land Cover mapping. Created using ArcGIS 10.7 through an unsupervised classification approach, I utilized several key tools such as the Clip and Composite Band tools from the raster processing section of Data Management tools, as well as some from the Spatial Analyst tools. #30DayMapChallenge | Day 7: Vintage Today i decided to display the Upper Guinea region of the 17-1800s today now known as coastal West Africa. This is where 50%-60% of the Black people in North and South America originate from or are connected to by generations of ancestors in the past. I also included a few towns that were important and influential to the transatlantic slave trade as well as other functions. This time I used Arc GIS to create 95% of the map. The first part of the map, being a shapefile of the countries in this region I wanted to display was done using QGIS (the 5%). Lots of editing tolls were used to create the numerous lines and hatches to give a distinct roughness to the map. #gis #qgis #arcgis #Guinea #westafrica #vintage

🌍 Seeking Advice for GIS Project on Stormwater Management and Spatial Planning in Hilton, KZN, South Africa 🌧️ Hello there! I'm currently working on a GIS project as part of my bachelors studies at UNISA, focusing on integrating stormwater management into Hilton's broader development plan. The goal is to identify suitable sites for water infiltration in Hilton Ward Label KZN222_6, aligning with the Greenbook initiative's adaptation actions. So far, I've obtained spatial data on Wards, Land Use, and Roads & Streets. However, I'm seeking advice on additional spatial and attribute datasets needed for this project, especially considering the need to follow the spatial development planning principles of South Africa. Here's the proposed spatial data I have: - Wards - Groundwater - Elevation contours - Rainfall - Evaporation - Land Use - Roads and Streets - Upstream conditions - Ecological conditions I'm particularly interested in suggestions for any other spatial data sets that could enhance the analysis and planning process. If you have insights on where to obtain these datasets or useful articles about defining the Hilton area in KZN, please share your expertise! Please note that I'll be using QGIS to construct the GIS model, so data in SHP or CSV format or any other format supported by QGIS would be ideal.
