What do you mean there's only one week left??😭 😭 My 8-month co-op at BCLDB has been an incredible journey, and it’s hard to believe it’s almost over. 💡 Why 8 Months is Better? Opting for an 8-month co-op was one of the best decisions I made. This extended term gave me the rare opportunity to immerse myself fully in projects from start to finish, providing a deeper understanding of the software development lifecycle. Unlike a shorter co-op, I was able to contribute to projects as they progressed through brainstorming, design, development, and deployment stages—an experience that taught me how impactful, high-quality tech solutions come to life. It also allowed me to play a role in long-term planning, build relationships with my team, and step into leadership opportunities like organizing team events, all of which helped me grow both professionally and personally. 🏭 Warehouse Visits: A Real-World Connection One of the most eye-opening parts of my experience was visiting the BCLDB warehouses. Touring the facilities and seeing the workers directly using the software applications gave me a profound appreciation for how our work impacts real users. It was like stepping into a live-action factory documentary—donning steel-toe shoes and safety vests! I witnessed firsthand how the tech solutions we build support everyday operations. This connection to the end-users reinforced the importance of what we do, reminding me that software isn’t just code; it’s a tool that enables people to do their jobs more efficiently and safely. ✨ Gratitude from the Heart: As I reflect on my time at, BC Liquor Distribution Branch I’m filled with immense gratitude for the many people who made this experience unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you to my incredible mentor, Shelvin Chandra, EIT and manager, Ashwini Ramasubramani for your unwavering support, guidance, and trust. Your feedback and encouragement challenged me to grow and pushed me to deliver my best work. I’m also grateful to the BCLDB Events Team for giving me the opportunity to contribute to team-building initiatives that strengthened our culture. And a big thank you to the BC Public Service for the opportunity to serve as an Executive on the Co-op Advisory Board. Lastly, thank you to my fellow co-ops and the entire team for your collaboration, camaraderie, and support. Working alongside such talented individuals made every challenge easier to face and every success even sweeter. As I wrap up this chapter, I leave with a heart full of gratitude, memories I’ll cherish, and lessons I’ll carry forward. Once again, thank you, BCLDB, for an experience that exceeded all my expectations!
