🌍 Happy World Standards Week from all of us at the International Accreditation Service (IAS)! 🎉 This week, we celebrate the critical role that standards play in shaping industries, promoting safety, and fostering innovation around the world. Standards are the building blocks that ensure consistency, quality, and reliability—helping businesses and organizations thrive in a globally connected marketplace. At IAS, we recognize that accreditation is key to ensuring that standards are properly applied. Our accreditation programs use internationally recognized standards to verify the competence of organizations in delivering trusted services, enhancing confidence across industries. We are also proud to mention IAS’s new Accreditation program for Standards Development Organizations (SDOs)! This initiative supports organizations that develop standards, helping to ensure transparency, consensus, and the technical rigor of the standards they create. I'm happy to share my participation in the EASC 65th annual meeting today in my role as a regional representative for Europe and Central Asia at ISO, representing also IEC on this special occasion. My objective was to foster a productive exchange of knowledge and ideas between EASC and ISO. Here's a breakdown of the key takeaways: -ISO Expertise Meets EASC Priorities: I presented a comprehensive overview of ISO's structure, Regional Engagement Policy, and the ongoing ISO 2030 Strategy review. In turn, I gained valuable insights from EASC members on their specific standardization needs and areas of focus. This two-way dialogue is crucial for aligning ISO's global efforts with regional priorities. -Showcasing EASC members' participation in ISO activities through impactful programmes and capacity-building initiatives. -Building Bridges for Stronger Collaboration: I presented a strategic roadmap for enhanced collaboration between EASC and ISO. This included exploring participation in key programmes, such as active participation in the monthly Regional Forums I am hosting and moderating, sponsorhip oppotunities, ISO digital training opportunities and the newly established ISO networks on Education about Standardization and Sustainability, to name a few. This will allow EASC members to leverage ISO's global network and expertise while providing valuable regional perspectives to shape ISO's future direction. -Formalizing the Partnership: I emphasized the importance of finalizing the Cooperation Agreement between EASC and ISO. This formal partnership will solidify our commitment to working together and ensure a more unified approach to standardization and technical work across the region. #ISO #EASC #regionalstandardsorganization #standardization #internationalcooperation #65plenary #cooperationagreement

While the dedication to accreditation is admirable I can’t help thinking seven (if I’ve counted it right) separate safety ones is reflective of how bloated the market is. Seven sets of cost doing all the forms and gathering evidence. Seven membership fees to pay. All of which results in higher costs which need to be passed to the client and not spent on actual conservation work. Surely we can come up with one single system that demonstrates competence?
Reflecting on World Accreditation Day earlier this week, DBR is proud to showcase our suite of industry-approved accreditations. These accreditations display our dedication to fostering a safe, secure, ethical, and sustainable working environment. We strive for continual improvement and are committed to excellence in all we do. World Accreditation Day is a global initiative created by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and ILAC. In the words of IAF, “From fostering trust to driving innovation and supporting sustainability, let's celebrate the role of accreditation in shaping our future!” #dbr #pasthasafuture #worldaccrediationday #wad2024 #iaf #accreditation #compliance International Accreditation Forum Inc

Are you CSRD ready? Affecting more than 47,000 companies across the world, if your company is based in, operates in or exports to the EU, chances are you will need to be compliant. And it certainly has its challenges. CSRD requires the quantification and reporting of emissions to air, water and waste of around 15,000 substances of interest. The vast majority of these have never been included in emissions inventories before, and for all but a handful there is no monitoring routinely undertaken or emission factors that can be used. And this doesn't just apply to your facilities, but also needs to be done for your supply chain. Here at ERM we are working with clients needing to report for CSRD. We have developed detailed guidance and framework methodologies for clients to understand the key aspects and approach. We are working directly with numerous clients to help them understand the requirements, look at what data they already have, and how to understand and fill the gaps.
