We aim to be a catalyst for developing new or updated resources and tools needed to identify the best available science related to the state of a particular species or natural resource.

The Princeton University Climate Change and History Research Initiative (CCHRI) a lead partner in our UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES Coalition Thematic Hub, devoted to Past Socio-Environmental Change and Resilience, hosts its annual colloquium at Princeton in June; an in-person conference, addressing questions at the interface between History and Policy, in particular climate and environmental policy. CCHRI 2024 Colloquium: Resilience and Sustainability: Past Trajectories, Contemporary Directions, Policy Relevance. 3-5 June 2024. Princeton University. The past five years have seen multiple breakthroughs in establishing the past as a key dimension for global change researchers and highlighting the need to bring academic researchers together with non-academic holders of local and traditional knowledge, and practitioners attempting to manage resources for sustainability. Delighted to see my PhD student, Zach Dove's, first 1st authored paper out today in Elementa Science of the Anthropocene. Also with Shuchi Talati, Ph.D. "Building capacity to govern emerging climate intervention technologies" develops the concept of governance capacity building to argue that capacity building is needed to enable effective and inclusive governance of emerging climate intervention technologies. Earth scientist Nathan McDowell is an expert on forest function and disturbance under global environmental change whose most recent work has focused on causes/consequences of tree mortality. Western science has tended to compartmentalize the land and the ocean, treating them as two distinct and separate realms— and overlooking the way that the coastal ocean is deeply influenced by the land. Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Coastal Rainforest Margins Research Network brought together an international group of scientists who are rethinking the land-ocean interface from Alaska to Northern California. A new paper from this network explores how climate change and other anthropogenic factors are affecting this interface and coastal marine ecosystems. The University Libraries has launched a new research data repository, SANDY: Stewarding Nebraska Data. According to Scout Calvert, associate professor and chair of the libraries’ research partnerships unit, the name is inspired by the Sandhills of Nebraska, a distinctive feature of the state, a place of biodiversity, and a region that demonstrates the impacts of purposeful stewardship of resources. Liz Lorang, dean of libraries, said "This upgrade to a world-class research data repository infrastructure demonstrates our commitment to the care work — which is also intellectual work — required to advance world-changing research agendas." https://lnkd.in/gK7kJP-A
