Did you know today is Stress Awareness Day? Part of International Stress Awareness week?
We asked Kat Beswick Assoc. CIPD, Associate People Business Partner, and an avid supporter and co-ordinator of Checkatrade’s Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) programme for her thoughts.
“As a Mental Health First Aider at Checkatrade, we use awareness days to get talking, reduce stigma, remind our people that we’re here and encourage them to take the next step in seeking support if they need it. I’ve been part of our MHFA group since we launched all the way back in 2019 and it’s something I’ve always been really proud of. I’m so impressed by the genuine care and commitment of our group in supporting our people in the best way they can. This stress awareness day, I’d encourage you to pause, reflect, check in on how you’re really feeling and reach out for support if you’re struggling”

Check out our story about the theme of Movement for this years Mental Health Awareness Week. We suggest five simple, practical ideas which may suit those who don't always find movement easy.
For Stress Awareness Month this April, the MacConvilles Mental Health First Aiders, Pat Begley and Andrew Kennedy MRICS Kennedy are focusing on a crucial step towards a safe and healthy work environment: breaking the silence and stigma surrounding mental ill-health.
Stress Awareness Month is all about opening the conversation. It's a chance to shed light on the causes and solutions for stress and most importantly, to reduce the stigma that often prevents people from seeking help.
We encourage our supporters, partners, and friends to be the change. Let's start conversations within our organisations and networks not just in April, but throughout the year.
Here's how you can get involved:
Share your own experiences with stress management.
Ask colleagues how they're doing and encourage open communication.
Promote resources for mental health and stress reduction.
By working together, we can create a workplace where everyone feels comfortable discussing stress and seeking support.
Remember, you're not alone. Let's break down the barriers and build a healthier future together.

🌍 Today is World Mental Health Day, a crucial moment to reflect on how we support our mental well-being.
In my latest blog post, I discuss the importance of raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and offering real support for those navigating mental health challenges.
Let's continue advocating for open conversations and compassion in every space—whether at home, in the workplace, or in our communities.

The recent panel on "Wellbeing During Financial Crisis" was a powerful reminder of the deep impact financial stress has on both physical and mental health. The event was filled with deeply personal stories shared by fellow panellists, including the organiser Kelvin Voen, whose own experiences were not only moving but set the tone for an open and honest conversation. Their stories made it clear that these challenges are far more than just numbers—they represent real lives.
Thank you Nikki Adebiyi, Shocka Proton, Rakesh (Rax) Kalia, who also generously provided the venue, and the curator Lily Mott.
These personal accounts brought stark statistics to life:
- A 19-year gap in healthy life expectancy exists between the most and least deprived areas of the UK.
- Over 4.3 million children in the UK live in poverty, facing long-term health implications.
- People in financial distress are twice as likely to experience depression and anxiety (Mind).
While traditional treatments like medication and therapy remain essential, I believe it’s time to expand our toolkit for mental health management, especially as we face increasing socioeconomic pressures. At Flow Neuroscience, we're at the forefront of offering transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a non-invasive, drug-free treatment backed by a robust body of clinical research demonstrating its efficacy in treating depression.
If you're a healthcare provider interested in exploring evidence-based, innovative solutions for patients struggling with depression, I'd be happy to share more about how tDCS could complement your practice.
Feel free to reach out if you'd like to discuss this further or learn more about our approach at Flow Neuroscience. I'm always eager to connect with fellow professionals passionate about improving mental health outcomes.
🧘 Stress is universal, but so is the power to manage it. April is National Stress Awareness Month, practice self-care and stress-reducing techniques.

Ah...Mental Health Week has come to an end, so I guess it's back to ignoring our mental well-being until next year, right? 🙄
But wait, before you switch off that empathy button, let's pause for a moment.
Sure, it's fantastic that we dedicate a week to mental health awareness, but shouldn't every week be mental health week? Let's challenge ourselves to go beyond the designated dates and make caring for each other's minds a year round commitment.
So let's try not just talking the talk for a week, but walking the walk every single day. Let's keep those conversations going, extend a helping hand, and show genuine care for one another's well-being. Because in the end, it's not just about raising awareness; it's about creating a culture of compassion and support.
Let's make every week Mental Health Week. 💙

💬 Stress Awareness Week is coming up from November 4th to 8th! 🧠💚
At CORGI Services, we understand the impact that stress can have, especially in high-pressure environments like ours. This week is all about taking a moment to focus on mental health and well-being.
Whether you're managing a tough project or navigating daily challenges, it’s important to recognise the signs of stress and seek support when needed.
Let’s make time to create a more open conversation about stress at work and beyond.
Remember, it’s okay to take a break and put yourself first! 🌿
