🚴♀️ Join Us in the Fight Against Modern Slavery: Ride for Freedom 🌍 We’re thrilled to support Ride for Freedom, an incredible initiative that aligns with our mission to promote sustainability and human rights. Through the power of cycling, we’re looking to raise awareness, educate, and forge partnerships to end modern slavery while providing vital support to survivors, aligning to the UN’s #SustainabilityDevelopmentGoals (8.7). Fighting modern slavery is integral to building a circular economy that is not only environmentally sustainable but also socially responsible, ensuring that human rights are upheld throughout the entire lifecycle of products and services. Colleagues will be donating bikes to the cause, that will deliver these great benefits: - 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀: providing survivors of modern slavery with a sustainable and independent mode of transportation. - 𝗘𝗰𝗼-𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: promoting sustainable transport and extending the lifespan of donated bikes, delivering a carbon reduction impact. - 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: joining a community dedicated to supporting survivors of modern slavery, helping them to rebuild their lives. This is one of many activities we’re doing as part of SecondHand September, alongside our clothing drives to promote reuse and recycling, and ahead of international anti-slavery day on 18th October 2024. https://okt.to/wDFWog #Sustainability #SDG8 #CircularEconomy #HumanRights #RideForFreedom #EndSlavery

You know you're spending too much time playing video games. Why not waste some time playing a game that feeds hungry children and families? Are you like me, always trying to sound smart by using high-level vocabulary? Then head on over to https://freerice.com/home and play their multiple choice vocabulary game. Every question you answer correctly raises 10 grains of rice (or an equivalent payment) for the World Food Programme (WFP). So play it a lot, ok? Don't be an indolent curmudgeon! #charity #rice #gamification #reward #freerice #worldfoodprogramme #volunteering

Been thinking about the term “vision” this week as it relates to the strategic planning work I do with nonprofit clients. And what comes to mind for me (at least this week) is a rowing crew. Sharing a common purpose is inspiring and uplifting, but equally crucial is having a shared direction. Consider our nonprofit communities - all driven by the same mission to create positive change. However, achieving goals requires more than shared passion. We must also align on a shared destination, (or vision) for the not-so-distant future that can align our efforts and strategies, ensuring everyone is moving in the same direction. Just like a rowing crew that moves swiftly when every member is in sync, an organization thrives when every team member, volunteer, and supporter work together toward a common point on the horizon. Getting your community to row together, not just with a shared purpose but with a shared destination will help you actualize the future you want to create.

One of our final stories that we are thrilled to recap is our collaboration with the Crystal Brook community, Belgravia Leisure and Port Pirie Regional Council to make the Crystal Brook Swimming Pool more inclusive for all. First raised during a six-monthly Community Network Forum held at the pool, local residents highlighted that the existing infrastructure did not adequately meet the needs of patrons with mobility challenges, including those living with physical disabilities, frailty, chronic conditions or injuries. Belgravia Foundation, in collaboration with key stakeholders supported the application for a $10,000 grant from the 2024 Clements Gap Sustainable Community Fund which was successful. Combined with additional contributions from a dedicated local community group, accessible steps are now scheduled to be installed at the Crystal Brook Swimming Pool during the summer season. Through Belgravia Foundation's leadership and guidance, Belgravia Leisure and the Port Pirie Regional Council are planning further upgrades, including relocating a chair lift to the pool, to provide even greater accessibility. This project is a testament to what community input and teamwork can achieve, breaking down barriers for individuals with mobility challenges. We can’t wait to share with you the wonderful outcomes of implementing the accessible pool steps. Read more today at https://lnkd.in/gtbCpCQB

The Residential Outdoor Education (Wales) Bill, proposing a funded entitlement for children in Wales, is continuing its journey through the Senedd, and the debate in the Senedd itself will happen In April. Prior to that, the committees responsible for scrutinising the proposals will be reporting their recommendations soon, and, whatever the outcome, the Bill has raised the profile of outdoor education/learning significantly. The news report and debate on 'Sharp End' (start at 22:35 in) are worth a look 👇 #outdooreducation #outdoorlearning #equityineducation https://lnkd.in/eP6g3twh
