We recognise the importance of leading by example, so are excited to announce that we have received a Silver Medal in our first submission to EcoVadis, the global independent assessor of corporate sustainability management systems. The achievement recognises a number of key steps in our own sustainability journey we have made in the last 12 months, including the completion of our first Group materiality assessment, validation of our emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative, and the focus on our employee value proposition as a certified Great Place To Work UK. Beyond our own submission, we have also supported several of our clients with EcoVadis throughout the year, achieving grades of Silver through to Platinum. Our team can ➡️ Prepare environmental and social policies aligned to best practice, ➡️ Write Sustainability Reports which underpin the questionnaire as a supporting document, ➡️ Review your questionnaire against the EcoVadis criteria to advise on any improvements that can be made, and ➡️ Recommend a workplan to deliver score improvements year-on-year. 📨 Please reach out to Jasper Crone or Roger Johnston if you are interested in working with us on your EcoVadis journey!

Joining the dots on our sustainability journey Today bp publishes our 2023 Sustainability Report. I am proud of the hard work we have put in across our net zero, people and planet aims. 2023 was all about integration on our journey to make bp a more sustainable business - joining the dots between our businesses, the environment we operate in, our customers, communities and our suppliers. Embedding sustainability into the way we work is one of our goals. As this year’s report shows, we are in action. When I look at the steps taken this past year what energizes me is seeing that the aims we set in 2020 are becoming a key element in our everyday decision making. There is still a long way to go but I’m encouraged and proud of the teams for another positive year. I want to say a big thank you to all our teams in bp and partners who are supporting us on this journey. For me, the report highlights impactful work that brilliant and passionate people across our organization are doing to strive for a more sustainable future for bp and the communities we operate in. Special recognition to all involved in compiling this report and in driving the work forward. Read the full report: https://on.bp.com/49SSLlb

Last year, we held ourselves accountable for our effect on the environment. How did we do this? We became aware of an organisation named EcoVadis. Their job is to externally audit your practices and provide a rating in relation to any other businesses they have previously worked with. On our first attempt we were able to achieve a silver rating, meaning that we were rated in the top 15% of all EcoVadis accredited businesses. With the constant growth of EcoVadis as a platform we knew we would have our work cut out to remain near the top of the ratings. One helpful feature of the EcoVadis platform is that it provides suggestions on how to improve our sustainability practices. And here we are, 1 year later. Techbuyer is consistently working to improve sustainability performance. This year we made significant strides in supply chain and modern slavery, which the guidance from EcoVadis and the Modern Slavery Assessment Tool from UK government have helped achieve! This does not mean that the work is done. We are always looking to improve and next year we will be hoping to continue our positive momentum with EcoVadis, with the aim of not just retaining silver, but pushing towards the Gold medal that would position us in the top 5% of all businesses with the organisation. Has your business undergone a sustainability assessment? You can also read more about EcoVadis through our article below.
