Some really interesting numbers and insights into the EV market in the UK. The increasing presence of Chinese OEM's in the UK EV market, due to the UK being more financially beneficial to operate in than EU counterparts is changing public perception year on year. People are more accepting in the UK of Chinese manufacturers products and the likes of BYD being in the lithium mining game since 2011 has enabled them to manufacture batteries more efficiently, leading in lower costs to the end user. Why is the UK's electric car revolution stalling? I carried out an analysis of EV ownership by area and house price, plus public charger location, using data from Savills and JOLT. The conclusion is that the electric car revolution is not trickling down through society (and is, in particular, massively overrepresented in the southeast and among households with driveways) - while public chargers frequently remain expensive and erratically located. It all points, once again, to how difficult it will be for Labour to ensure 80 per cent of all car sales will be electric from 2030. Despite widespread awareness, 52% of vehicle shoppers in Canada have never been in an EV. However, just one ride can significantly increase their interest in going electric. While affordability concerns will take more time to overcome, J.D.
