Meet Red Bull Racing's newest driver: Liam Lawson has just been announced as the new driver for Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology. The announcement for Lawson's signing came the day after the team announced Sergio Perez's departure. To date, Lawson has raced for RB, scoring 6 points over 11 Grand Prix entries. Whilst Lawson is new to Formula 1 , he has managed to make the Top 10 three times now, and has even finished within the top 5. According to Christian Horner: "Liam's performances over the course of his two stints with Racing Bulls have demonstrated that he's not only capable of delivering strong results but that he's also a real racer, not afraid to mix it with the best and come out on top." I personally cannot wait to see what Lawson is like racing alongside Verstappen. How do you think Lawson will fair in the 2025 season? How F1 stops BILLIONAIRES from joining 🤔 Formula 1 is protected by what's called a super license. Check out the full video on my YouTube channel. Racing has a lot to do with funds. If you had 40 crores lying around, some basic driver requirements could allow you to compete in Formula 2. It's a junior series just one step below Formula 1. A super license is what's stopping just anybody with funds from stepping into Formula 1. First you need to tick all these boxes. (Add a list of all the different points) Next, you need to collect what's called super points. Championships offer super points based on where you finish in the season. Here's a list for various championships and the points you'd get. You need 40 super points in just 3 years. If you collect 10 points each in year 1, year 2, and year 3, at the beginning of year 4, you lose the first year's points. And so you'll need to collect those points again. Once you collect 40 points, you attain a super license, and you're eligible to race in F1. But there isn't any guarantee that you'd get a seat. If more than 3 seasons pass without you being part of F1, you will lose your super license. Felipe Drugovich won the F2 title in 2022, giving him enough super points.
