Celebrating Success No. 2: Confidence Building Being out of work for a prolonged period can impact you in many ways. Perhaps the biggest challenge is a loss of confidence in your abilities: "No one wants me." "Am I actually any good at my job?" "I’m interviewing for roles I know I can do but keep getting rejected." I’ve heard these words from several clients this year. One client, in particular, stands out—a senior professional from a global business who had spent over 20 years with her previous employer before being made redundant earlier this year. Her confidence was shaken. She was feeling the strain of life without a job—losing structure, purpose, and income. We worked together to rebuild her confidence, starting by focusing on her impressive achievements and reminding her that redundancy is a business decision, not a reflection of her abilities. We created structure in her day, set actionable goals after each session, and worked on small, achievable milestones to consistently rebuild her confidence. She even took on a part-time job to regain a sense of purpose. The transformation was incredible. Watching her grow throughout JOBQUEST (my job search strategy programme) was one of the highlights of my year. She’s now landed a brilliant role in a new sector—one that challenges and excites her, exactly what she was looking for. I couldn’t be prouder of her journey—from where she started to where she is now.

Career clarity refers to having a clear understanding of your career direction, goals, and yourself in the work environment. According to the Society of Human Resources Management, a survey found that 34% of respondents ages 18 to 24 did not think they could use their existing skill sets at work, 33% did not think they could control the next steps in their careers, and 55% said they were anxious about taking the next step. Career Coach Daniel de Vries helps young professionals get promoted and build their dream careers. With two decades of corporate ladder-climbing experience, culminating in senior management and executive positions, Daniel has turned his focus to guiding the next generation of professionals on their career paths. Daniel's own journey was one of self-discovery and determination. The Power of Fortitude in the Workplace. In the professional world, there are moments when you feel like you're doing everything right—exceeding expectations, delivering results, and being a team player—yet the opportunities you strive for seem just out of reach. It's in these moments that fortitude becomes your greatest ally. Fortitude is more than just resilience; it’s the unwavering strength to stay focused, grow through adversity, and persevere even when the odds aren’t in your favor. Here are a few ways I’ve learned to embrace fortitude in the face of challenges: Control What You Can: Focus on your performance, attitude, and growth. Strengthen Your Network: Surround yourself with mentors and allies who champion your success. Invest in Your Skills: Keep growing and learning, even when recognition feels delayed. Stay True to Your Vision: Don’t let obstacles derail your goals—let them refine your strategy. Remember, your journey isn’t defined by temporary setbacks but by the steps you take to rise above them. Let’s celebrate those moments of quiet strength that pave the way for greater opportunities. 🔗 How do you show fortitude in your career? Share your thoughts below!

9hI really like how you describe your career opportunities as recipes. Since you are in the food industry, it's a very clever and creative approach. I hope it's proven successful in garnering the interest of potential candidates. I'd really like to work with your company in 2025, so I hope we can connect soon. Regards, Karin.
