Are immersive shows under-represented when it comes to professional coverage?
Interesting article from The Stage Media Company Ltd got us thinking about whether this is true and why that might be...
When it comes to what constitutes a "show", the lines have dramatically blurred in recent years, and many go under the radar. Some immersive shows would describe themselves as 'experiences', some 'games', others are 'escape rooms', many more 'theatre' but this all begs the wider question; how do you define theatre? And honestly, we don't have an answer!
It can't be ignored that there is an occasional air of snobbishness surrounding immersive shows, and whether publications deem them 'worthy' of traditional reviewing. But witnessing the evolution of live entertainment is exciting! And we've seen first-hand how non-traditional theatre can attract a brand new audience - and what's better than that?
The breadth and scope of immersive is wide and as theatre makers, we believe it's our job to welcome as many people as possible to see 'theatre' in all its forms, and we'd encourage more reviewers to take the leap.

D&AD's Wednesday session kicks off with a fascinating chat between DDB’s president and global CCO Chaka Sobhani, president of this year’s film jury, and Noam Murro, the iconic Biscuit Filmworks director. A frank and honest conversation about feelings in film and how to make work that moves us. Some of the key takeaways from Murro included:
· It doesn’t matter what you shoot on – do you, as a viewer ever look at any piece of content and wonder what it was shot on?
· Craft is important, but it’s about the clarity of the idea
· Nothing good will result from bad writing – it’s key to protect the writer. Don’t let it get changed a thousand times, but if you protect it you can have something great in the end.
· Choose a script from its potential – and involve everybody in the process, including the client
· Don’t sell a piece of music before you shoot – you might end up using a $30 song rather than a million-dollar track. Music can be great for inspiration, but the final piece of music has to work with whatever you shot.
· Inspiration for stories can come from anyone you meet
· Stick to what you’re good at – it’s not that complicated.

🍽️🎶 Reflecting on an Unforgettable Experience: Show Calling for an Exclusive Dinner Event and Concert 🍽️🎶
Words cannot express the privilege it was to serve as the Show Caller for a truly exclusive high-end dinner event and concert, where elegance and artistry intertwined to create an evening to remember. Collaborating with a separate film company added an extra layer of creativity and sophistication to the entire production.
From the moment guests arrived, greeted by the opulent ambiance meticulously crafted to evoke a sense of luxury, to the breathtaking performances that unfolded on stage, every detail was carefully curated to exceed expectations.
Working alongside the film company brought a new dimension to the event, seamlessly blending live entertainment with cinematic elements. The synergy between our teams allowed for a seamless integration of lighting, sound, and visuals, elevating the experience to new heights.
As the evening progressed, each course served was a culinary masterpiece, perfectly complemented by the soulful melodies and electrifying performances that filled the air. The energy was palpable, and every moment felt like a celebration of artistry and refinement.
But beyond the glamour and spectacle, what truly made this experience unforgettable was the sense of camaraderie and collaboration among everyone involved. From the talented performers to the dedicated crew behind the scenes, each person played a vital role in bringing the vision to life.
Reflecting on this extraordinary event fills me with gratitude for the opportunity to be part of something truly special. It's moments like these that remind me why I'm passionate about what I do – the ability to create moments of magic and leave a lasting impact on those who experience it.
I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this event a success. Together, we created an evening that transcended expectations and left a lasting impression on all who attended.
Here's to the power of collaboration, creativity, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead!

Community-driven storytelling is the heart of cultural change. This powerful Manifesto for Community Film Distribution and Exhibition in Latin America from Ambulante AC resonates deeply. As we advocate for equity and inclusion in the media sector, it's critical to amplify voices and build networks that enable storytelling by and for our communities, outside of traditional gatekeeping models.
In this manifesto, we see the spirit of empowerment and cultural resilience. It's a call to action to redefine distribution and exhibition in a way that centers local stories and audiences. We hope to see these ideas take root not just in Latin America but globally, as we all push for a more equitable, representative media landscape.

“As creatives, as artists, we need to be more vulnerable. We need to allow people in a little bit more, so they see all these different dimensions of who we are. It's incredible what impact that actually has on our overall ability to engage with people, because we focus on the work and we focus on our clients.” – Eddy Herty, STUDIOS https://lnkd.in/gRRDEgXp
