As she walked into the conference room, Nina felt her nerves twitching. She was about to present her innovative marketing strategy to the CEO of her company, a prestigious firm in London. Just as she began, a gentle voice interrupted her. "Excuse me, Nina, may I offer some advice?" asked Mrs. Mensah, a senior executive who had been quietly observing from the back. Nina hesitated, but Mrs. Mensah's warm smile put her at ease. "Your ideas are brilliant, but your passion is what truly shines. Don't let fear hold you back. Speak from the heart." With renewed confidence, Nina restarted her presentation. This time, her words flowed effortlessly. "Nina, I see myself in you, let's grab coffee and discuss your career goals" were the words of Mrs. Mensah after Nina's presentation. Nina's heart swelled with gratitude. She had not only secured the approval for her marketing strategy but also gained a mentor who believed in her potential. Mrs. Mensah's guidance and support propelled Nina to new heights, solidifying her position as a rising star in the company. Being second-guessed. Having your credentials for the role questioned. Challenging a comment you found offensive. Being told that "you're being too sensitive." 🌟 Why What I’m Building is Different 🌟 LinkedIn is a powerful platform for networking and visibility, but for many Black professionals, it doesn’t always feel like home. It’s a space where we often navigate algorithms that don’t favor us, face censorship, and struggle to find genuine community. That’s why I’m building an exclusive, invitation-only, paid community designed specifically for us, by us. 💼 Why should you apply to be a member? 1️⃣ Authentic Community: This isn’t just another networking platform—it’s a space where Black professionals can connect, grow, and thrive without the barriers we face elsewhere. 2️⃣ Tailored Resources: From curated events to on-demand access to elite Black leaders, everything is designed to empower and uplift our voices. 3️⃣ Mentorship & Collaboration: Imagine being in a room (virtual or otherwise) with Black rocket scientists, CEOs, millionaire entrepreneurs, surgeons, and Fortune 500 executives. At Crown & Quill, this is the norm—not the exception. 💡 Why Paid and Exclusive? 🎯 Serious Commitment: A paid membership ensures that only those truly invested in their growth and the growth of our community are here. 🎯 High-Value Experiences: Your membership goes directly toward bringing in elite Black voices, creating world-class resources, and curating events that matter. 🎯 Building Wealth Within: Circulating money, time, and resources within our own community is key to showing future generations what leadership, wealth-building, and support look like. While LinkedIn is broad and open, my exclusive, invitation-only community will be intentional and specific. It’s where we don’t just connect—we build. It’s where you can thrive in an environment tailored for your growth, surrounded by people who understand and uplift you. 💡 Are you ready to invest in yourself and our community? DM me or comment “”I want in” below 👇🏽 to learn how to join this movement. Together, we’ll create a legacy of Black #leadership #careers #motivation #whatinspiresme #culture #education

Here's a little nudge for anyone avoiding something because it feels a bit too scary or uncomfortable… Two months back, I got invited to speak at the "Why We Vote" event at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), organised by the Royal Pearl Society, London Alpha's, and the LSE Advancing Black Careers Society. Usually, I can talk for England. Yet, I was really nervous about this opportunity. The event’s lineup was filled with inspiring leaders like Eric D. Collins, Nialah Edari, Toni F., and others. Feeling like an imposter, I contemplated withdrawing from the panel! In the end, I decided to participate, and I couldn't be happier with that decision. Not only did I contribute to an important discussion about the challenges Black youth face today, but I also met some incredible people whom I am grateful to know. It turned out to be one of my favourite speaking engagements. This experience reminds me of a conversation I once had with Nick Studer, the CEO of Oliver Wyman. We were talking about imposter syndrome and he offered advice that has stuck with me: It's okay to feel uncomfortable because that's when you're truly pushing yourself to try new things and grow. So, if you’re feeling nervous or doubtful about doing something, it might just mean you’re on the right track. Embrace that discomfort and you might surprise yourself with what you can achieve. #impostersyndrome #publicspeaking #confidence
