On November 27th, 2024, bioMérieux in collaboration with the French Embassy in Brazil, hosted a landmark event on the sidelines of the G20 summit and World AMR Week: “Antimicrobial Resistance: How to Change the Game by 2050”. 📝 This conference brought together over 80 participants, including national and international experts to discuss topics such as: - The current state of AMR in Brazil and globally - The impact of AMR on different regions and the disparities in access to diagnostics and antibiotics - New prevention and control strategies, including the role of continuous medical education and public awareness - The importance of diagnostic accessibility and the incorporation of AI in managing health data - The urgent need for updated legislation on the role of hospital pharmacists in AMR programs - The role of international collaboration in implementing lasting solutions to AMR 🗣️ Key speakers included: - Mr. Emmanuel LENAIN, Ambassador of France in Brazil - Mr. Alain MÉRIEUX, President of Institut Mérieux - Dr. Ethel MACIEL, Secretary of Health and Environmental Surveillance of the MoH - Prof. Ramanan LAXMINARAYAN, Founder & President of One Health Trust - Dr. Twisha PATEL, Pharmacist at the National Center of Infectious Diseases, CDC This conference marks the beginning of a multipartite collaboration led by bioMérieux and the French Embassy, aiming to engage the local public health ecosystem through advocacy, training, and policy-shaping in Brazil. #PioneeringDiagnostics
