As the keynote speaker of the Technical session of the recently concluded 8th NE Green Summit at Itanagar, here are some of the conclusions I have drawn after participating in the event: 1. No matter how noble the idea behind the event, none of the discussions matter unless the policymakers and community leaders lend a patient ear to the domain experts, innovators and green tech entrepreneurs. 2. Cliché terms like attaining "Net Zero" or "Carbon Neutrality" are empty words unless providing definitive examples of technology or processes and their success stories along with the data. 3. Pickles and wine, no matter how good tasting, like cane baskets, no matter how intricately woven, are not examples of Innovation, Sustainability, Green-Tech or Circular Economy. 4. That some money has been raised by brick and mortar businesses masquerading as Startups, is neither an indicator of their success, the health of the ecosystem, nor commitment towards green tech or sustainability. 5. To the Pundits from Metropolises who love to "grace" such sessions as VIP Guests spouting drivel like "Oh, the North-east are the lungs of India," that we need to eat, sleep Bamboo and live in Bamboo Huts, or become completely organic, I will suggest they look around erstwhile lush hill stations like Shillong or Bomdila and decide which cancer has afflicted these lungs or to take a look at Sri Lanka and her organic experiment. (Regarding Bamboo, my team and I are designing and building advance Bamboo Biocomposite vessels like Trimarans and Catamarans, along with ultra light-weight and low-cost fishing and rescue boats. So, wanna make some Deep Impact Investment ??) Lastly, gauging by the photographs of me, that I seriously need to shed some weight. I think that is the most attainable short term sustainability goal I can strive for... #neindia #greensummit #sustainability #greentech #India #innovators

🌿 I had the incredible opportunity to attend a talk by Yogesh Shinde, the CEO of Bamboo India, at Christ University, Bangalore. His inspiring journey from a non-business background to building a sustainable enterprise left a deep impression on me. His story highlights how passion, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability can drive success. ✍🏼 Mr. Shinde’s decision to focus on bamboo as a sustainable alternative is truly bold and impactful. Bamboo India’s eco-friendly products, like toothbrushes and earbuds, showcase how daily essentials can be produced in ways that reduce environmental harm. 🎋 What stood out to me the most was his emphasis on sustainability not just as a business model, but as a core value. Bamboo India’s focus on ethical practices, fair labor, and green manufacturing sets a powerful example for businesses everywhere. ⭐️ This talk left me feeling more motivated than ever to contribute towards a sustainable future, where businesses like Bamboo India can inspire real change. #sustainability #innovation #ecofriendly #entrepreneurship #inspiration #community #environmentalawareness

“Himalaya Calling” – A Global Summit I recently had the opportunity to attend the Himalaya Calling: Global Summit on Challenges and opportunities in the Himalayan region at UPES, and learned about the crucial role of women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Entrepreneurship in the Himalayan region. In the majestic Himalayan region, Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are transforming lives through entrepreneurship. These community-led initiatives provide women with access to resources, training, and a support network to launch small businesses—focusing on areas like organic farming, herbal products, handicrafts, and eco-tourism. From producing and selling organic spices and medicinal herbs to promoting local handicrafts, these groups are blending economic growth with cultural preservation. Not only are they generating income, but they’re also promoting sustainability, utilizing local resources responsibly, and creating resilient communities. This summit magnified my understanding of community driven economic development and the role of women in Himalayan regions - strengthening local economies, supporting eco-tourism, and fostering resilience in the face of environmental challenges. I would like to thank our guest speakers Prof. Cynthia from Clark University, Nupur Agarwal (Co-founder of KIWI kisan Window), Ekta Aggarwal (founder of Pagdandi Foundation) and Sandeep Rawat who shared their valuable experiences and highlighted the importance of women SHGs and entrepreneurship in creating a sustainable livelihood. I would also like to thank our Teacher Aanchal Sharma for giving us this opportunity to know more about the challenges and opportunities in the Himalayan region. Let’s continue supporting initiatives like #HimalayaCalling that spotlight the incredible potential of SHGs in creating sustainable and inclusive growth. 🌱 #WomenEmpowerment #SustainableDevelopment #HimalayanEconomy #Entrepreneurship #EcoTourism

You can't create impact stories for the world unless the impact is real. When it's genuine, it resonates deeply, transforming lives. This is exemplified by my boss, Mr. Agni Mitra, who has been relentlessly focusing on creating meaningful impact for the past six years. His inspiring journey is not just a story for India but for the entire world. The equation of impact is now proven: Amwoodo X Bamboo = Sustainability X Impact X Business Here’s what that impact looks like: - 1200+ farmers and artisans associated - 674+ acres of forests afforested - 283,500 MT+ CO2 offset annually - 284 MT+ plastic diverted from landfills - 3x growth in farmers' and artisans' incomes We are a team of 200+ strong, working tirelessly to make India plastic-free. And the business? Here’s the journey so far: - FY 19-20: ₹8 lakh - FY 20-21: ₹1.6 crore+ - FY 21-22: ₹2.6 crore+ - FY 22-23: ₹7.3 crore+ - FY 23-24: ₹22 crore+ - FY 24-25: ₹4.5 crore+ MRR (current) These numbers are not just milestones; they are a testament to what’s possible. This is proven that Bengalis, with creativity and determination, can build businesses that create global impact. At Amwoodo, we always say: "We are not in the business of making money; we are in the business of creating impact for the world." This journey is unlike any other. It’s a journey toward establishing a vision. It’s a journey of creating impact for a better world. It’s a proud moment to be at the forefront of the bamboo revolution. The video is now live, and I guarantee that once you watch it, you’ll understand—it’s not just a journey; it’s so much more. Watch the video now. I’m confident you’ll love it. Thank you.

Are you overcomplicating your sustainable business strategy? The greatest mistake you can make in sustainable entrepreneurship? Ignoring the incredible power of simple, natural resources. I've witnessed this error repeatedly in the sustainable business realm: For instance: 1. Overemphasizing complex tech solutions. 2. Disregarding local resources and talent. 3. Dismissing the significance of traditional, eco-friendly methods. Do you spot the errors? This tendency is known as “overcomplication.” And let me tell you, it’s a misstep. In fact, it dilutes your sustainability ambitions. Take inspiration from Sundar Gowda—both in action and in wisdom. In Naravi, a challenging region in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, Sundar has devised a groundbreaking model that taps into bamboo and areca plants, collaborating directly with local farmers. They utilize bamboo for household poles, while the areca leaves are ingeniously crafted into biodegradable plates, cutlery, and packaging materials. This strategy not only tackles pressing environmental issues but also fosters rural development by creating jobs and sustainable livelihoods for the community. It’s a testament to how straightforward yet innovative solutions can drive immense change. Stop racing against competitors ↳ Start racing against the odds in your favor. And here’s a powerful life lesson: Oftentimes, the simplest solutions yield the most rewarding results. #SustainableEntrepreneurship #NaturalResources #EcoFriendly #RuralDevelopment #Biodegradable #TraditionalPractices #Innovation #Sustainability #LocalTalents #CommunityImpact #Entrepreneurshi Have you experienced the power of simplicity in your sustainability efforts? Share your thoughts or insights! Let's discuss how straightforward solutions can create real change in our communities.

Did you know today is World Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises Day (MSME Day)? SMEs play an essential role not only in shaping local, national, and global economies, but also driving innovation for sustainable futures. Just like India-based Caliche - an inventions' company who recently celebrated six years of providing technology, design, and development services to the oil and gas industry – all with a focus on delivering carbon neutral or net-carbon negative solutions. One such solution uses photosynthetic bacteria for carbon capture from industrial emissions and converting it into useful feed for agriculture and aquaculture along with turning wastewaters into valuable resources. This circular economy model provides a sustainable solution for carbon management. "Caliche is a wonderful example of how SMEs can punch above their own weight,” says Tamara Ogilvie, CSIRO program director of the India Australia RISE Accelerator, in which Caliche is currently participating. “When dealing with an SME, so often you are dealing with the decision-makers directly. They can quickly contribute ideas and solutions to big problems.” Learn more about SMEs and startups in the RISE Accelerator, here: https://lnkd.in/gQd2jGDW #MSMEDay

This is called a true Bio-based sustainable economy ♻️ a concept called eco-design and a true steps towards sustainable industry 🏭 just look at each component of their manufacturing process from raw materials to in between production process (e.g. energy usage) to the end product with each steps 🪜 they were trying to employ sustainable solutions without compromising in either in the quality of products, economic viability for consumers as well as own startup and environmental footprint. A big salute to the CanvaLoop company 🈺 for presenting such a solution to society👥, now I can say yes from my India 🇮🇳 also such company and startups are emerging, can't wait to see and read more about its case study, LCA and its scale up. Below is the link of shark tank India YouTube video from where I get information about this👇 https://lnkd.in/dNf9JvB7
