This work introduces innovative polymeric ink formulations compatible with advanced DLP-based #3D #printing technology. These formulations enable the creation of highly #conductive #hydrogels with customizable mechanical properties. The unique combination of desirable attributes makes these hydrogels ideal for #wearable and #implantable devices, as well as for applications in #soft #robotics and #machine-#tissue #interfaces, particularly in delicate tissues like the brain, heart, and muscles. Notably, these hydrogels exhibit excellent #freezing and #dehydration tolerance, maintaining their functionality even at temperatures as low as -80°C, which opens up possibilities for use in #space #research. Additionally, the ink is suitable for #4D #printing, allowing the hydrogels to undergo programmable structural changes. This all-in-one ink formulation offers a versatile solution for various applications, including extreme temperature conditions, potentially accelerating advancements in multiple fields.

Pritiranjan Mondal and Arkodip Mandal developed a novel ink formulation for #DLP-based #3Dprinting to fabricate hydrogels that resist #freezing and maintain conductivity at sub-zero temperatures while maintaining #toughness and #stretchability with minimal #toxicity. Reusable Glassware for Routine Cell Culture -A Sterile, Sustainable and Affordable Alternative to Single-Use Plastics We developed a glassware preparation and cleaning process that allowed the comparison of "traditional" plastic-heavy, and adapted "sustainable", cell culture practices, to empirically compare the sterility, viability, and proliferative capacity of cells cultured with differing techniques, by observing IL-6 production, morphology, and proliferation rate of cultured human pulmonary fibroblast cells. During which, we calculated the carbon footprint of traditional versus sustainable methods. We additionally endeavored to provide a realistic overview of the steps required to transition to more sustainable cell culture practices and make suggestions to ease the cost, labor, and time required to uptake similar practices in other laboratories. https://lnkd.in/gyFybpNM #aspenalert #biotech #bioprocess
