Avinash Nayak’s Post

Had an insightful discussion with industry leaders last Friday on skilling in the Chemicals and Petrochemicals sector. Realizing India's demographic dividend depends on how effectively we enhance the employability of our youth. Here are some key takeaways from the conversation: Apprenticeships and Training: As Sonal Joshi (she/her) beautifully articulated, these programs address the 3 Cs: Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking, which are essential for today’s workforce. Role of Technology in Skilling: AR and VR are emerging as powerful tools to enhance learning outcomes. Saif Mohammad shared a striking statistic—retention improves by 25%, and learners are 275% more confident in applying their skills when trained with these immersive technologies. Scaling Skilling Efforts: Dilip Sawhney emphasized the need for industry to collaborate with academia, training institutes, and the broader ecosystem to scale skilling programs and meet the growing demand. Diversity and Inclusion: Ankur Aggarwal highlighted inspiring initiatives like Crystal’s partnership with an NGO to train individuals with special needs for back-office functions—proof that diversity efforts must go beyond just gender. The skilling challenge is immense but achievable through collaboration and commitment. I’d love to hear more—what is your organization doing, or what can the industry do, to empower the next generation with the right skills?
