Looking for a federal civilian job after your military service? The rules are changing over the next 3 years. Read on . . . The Chance to Compete Act of 2024 is headed to the President for signature. It proposes to codify skills-based hiring practices for the federal workforce. As usual, there are details. This applies to competitive service. During the "transition period (3 years) agencies must preference the use of a technical assessment to assess the job-related skills, abilities, knowledge, and competencies of an applicant for a position." A transition plan is due to Congress in 18 months. The requirement doesn't apply if an agency determines that it's impracticable for the job series and the agency submits to Congress a certification that a technical assessment is impracticable. Reinforcing the importance of a solid Insider Threat Program is critical- far too many cases went on despite there being indications witnesssd by co-workers and others, which had they been reported could have curtailed the threat and limited the damage these cases cause. That one thing you report can match up to that one thing someone else reports and it all comes together to show investigations are warranted. Remember: See Something- Say Something

Attention Active Duty Military Members with Security Clearances: Start Your Job Search Early! If you're planning to transition to civilian life, now is the time to start thinking about your next career step—especially if you hold a security clearance. The process of transferring your clearance to a new employer can take time, and it's crucial to plan ahead. Security clearance crossover isn't instantaneous. It involves a lot of paperwork, approvals, and coordination between agencies, all of which can take several months to complete. That’s why it’s recommended that you begin applying for positions at least one year before your transition to ensure that your clearance transfer aligns with your job offer and start date. Starting early will give you ample time to navigate the clearance process, find the right role, and ensure a smooth transition to civilian employment. Many employers, especially those in government contracting or defense industries, are looking for candidates with cleared backgrounds, but they need time to process the necessary paperwork. Don't wait until the last minute—your future career is just as important as your military service. Start early, and set yourself up for success! #warcollarindustries #hiremilitary #jobsearch #hireveterans #cyber #cybersecurity #navy #airforce #marines #army

Unlocking Potential: Opportunities for Military Personnel with Lower-Level Security Clearances As we continue to navigate an ever-evolving workforce landscape, one group of highly skilled individuals remains underutilized—military veterans with lower-level security clearances. These service members have a wealth of experience, discipline, and problem-solving abilities that can contribute significantly across a variety of industries. However, many employers overlook these individuals simply because their security clearance may not meet the highest levels required for certain roles. We need to break this barrier and open more doors. Organizations should consider the tremendous value that veterans with lower-level clearances bring to the table. Their skillsets, dedication, and ability to thrive under pressure make them ideal candidates for roles in cybersecurity, project management, logistics, IT, and beyond. By expanding opportunities for these veterans, we’re not just helping them transition successfully into civilian life—we’re also tapping into a highly capable and motivated workforce ready to make an impact. I ask thst some USG organizations champion the cause of broadening career paths for military personnel with lower-level security clearances and ensure that their service continues to make a difference in the private sector. Naturally, this would require contracts with the need for lower-level clearances as well as speeding up the process of clearance crossovers. #Veterans #MilitaryTransition #WorkforceInclusion #DiversityInHiring #HiringVeterans #LowerLevelClearances #JobOpportunities #SecurityClearance #HireMilitary #ListenToThisRecruiter #NarimanTheRecruiter #WarCollarIndustries #MilitaryAdvocate #VeteranAdvocate #DisabledVet #MinorityVet #DefenseContracting #Defense #SupportVeterans #SupportMilitary

Oh, really? Does your company have: • Former military or police personnel who are physically fit? • Experience working with celebrities, diplomats, high-net-worth families, and VVIPs? • International experience? • Experience in providing close protection services, security driving, and surveillance? Well… Welcome to the not-so-special club. You’re hiring the same people as everyone else, doing the same jobs as everyone else. You’re just putting your company’s label on it for the outside world. So calm down—you’re only “good” because you’ve never really been tested. #closeprotection #executiveprotection #persoonsbeveiliging #personenschutz #protectionrapprochee
