Reinforcing the importance of a solid Insider Threat Program is critical- far too many cases went on despite there being indications witnesssd by co-workers and others, which had they been reported could have curtailed the threat and limited the damage these cases cause. That one thing you report can match up to that one thing someone else reports and it all comes together to show investigations are warranted. Remember: See Something- Say Something

When Lt. Gen. Satish Dua was 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 of the very unit where he was first commissioned, he felt like his dream come true. 𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁-𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱, as within a week of taking charge, 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿, Major Rohit Sharma, during a counter-terror operation. This loss shattered everyone. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺. But Lt. Gen. Satish soon realized that all his soldiers were looking to him for strength. In the next operation, he led his team from the front—without wearing a bulletproof jacket. ❌ 𝗛𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀. ✅ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 👉 commanding officer take immense personal risks would galvanize the soldiers. And it worked. Reflecting on that time, Gen. Dua said: "𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲." Darius lost because his soldiers were in part mercenaries. To protect an organisation in the future, you need a CISO who knows how to use limited resources in a strategic way, and a team that works with passion. Becoming a security professional simply due to ample job opportunities will not cut.

A leader leading from the front can only assure success. In reality all team failure is happening only due to hypocrisy starting from top level spreading downwards in the team.

Blitzscaling: The marines take the beach, the army takes the country, and the police govern the country. Marines are start-up people who are used to dealing with chaos and improvising solutions on the spot. Army soldiers are scale-up people, who know how to rapidly seize and secure territory once your forces make it off the beach. And police officers are stability people, whose job is to sustain rather than disrupt. The marines and the army can usually work together, and the army and the police can usually work together, but the marines and the police rarely work well together. As you blitzscale, you may need to find new beaches for your marines to take rather than ask them to help patrol the existing ones.”
