Something I constantly tell our team is that speed is our only advantage.
It's true. There's always a competitor that has more resources and more money. Our quickness to execute and deliver amazing products to customers is one of our only advantages.
While having fewer employees correlates to being faster, it is not a given that you will be faster than your competition. To be faster, your organization needs to be extremely aligned. This is much easier to do at smaller companies but starts to become a challenge at larger companies.
This is a big reason that companies have core values, mission statements, and north stars. They need something that employees can look to, to answer question and inform decisions.
Most employees that I talk to at other companies have no idea what their company's mission statement or core values are. This is a HUGE missed opportunity to align your company to move faster and start winning.

One of the most common pieces of feedback we receive after meeting with a business is, "I never thought of that before." And that's because we dive into the unique needs and opportunities that often go overlooked.
Here’s what we do: we explore and provide a detailed document for employers to build a customized job description, focusing on three key areas:
◾ Unmet Needs of the Business: "What kinds of things aren't getting done the way a business needs to have them done?"
◾ Tasks That Could Enhance the Business: Especially after we get to know the strengths and talents of potential employees, we identify tasks that they may excel at—tasks that align with what a business really needs done.
◾ Tasks Better Performed by Others: "Would it be helpful if someone else could take on these basic tasks so your higher-status team members could focus on higher-level work?"
