Last week, I posted that we needed three Platform Engineering Managers, and the response was brilliant as always, but also quite telling in the current market 🔎 Our job advert brought in 94 applications, but only one candidate was relevant, and after our chat, agreed not to move forward. 💬 I was approached by 34 people on LinkedIn who had seen my post, with 5 booked to speak with me. After our chat, 1 person made the initial client shortlist. 🤝 Received 12 referrals from people in my network, had great qualification conversations with all of them, and we’re moving forward with 4. The remaining 8 were not interested in the actual roles and we are exploring other options and will be considered for other roles that align with their needs and interests. Added to the DanOps community :) 📋 From my personal Platform Engineering Manager shortlist, I reached out to 27 previously qualified professionals who trust me to bring the RIGHT opportunities their way—I agreed with 11 of them, to move forward. ✅ After discussing the profiles with the end clients, we agreed to take 12 people forward, 4 for each role. ✅ 100% on 1st interview requests. 🗣 I can't speak for everyone, but for me this is quite telling. If you're not tapping into your network or partnering with a specialist recruiter, you ARE missing out on the right people and not even being considered for the right roles.
