The NHTSA has confirmed the 28th U.S. fatality linked to defective Takata airbags, stemming from a 2018 crash in Alabama. The faulty inflators, which can explode and send metal shrapnel into the cabin, have prompted the largest recall in U.S. history, with more than 67 million vehicles affected. 🔋 Ford’s 12-Volt Battery Issues Lead to Recalls 🔋 Following complaints from Ford Bronco Sport and Maverick owners about sudden power loss and battery-related issues, the NHTSA opened a federal investigation. The issue stemmed from the 12V enhanced flooded battery (EFB) that can abruptly fail, leading to unexpected power losses and even hazard light failures. Ford has since addressed this with recalls impacting 2021-2024 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick models, along with a battery replacement. In today’s world, where vehicle reliability is paramount, how can automakers further improve safety features to prevent such critical failures? Would an early alert system for battery health be beneficial? #VehicleSafety #AutomotiveIndustry #NHTSA #Recalls

The probe includes the 2016-2020 Honda Pilot, 2018-2020 Honda Odyssey, 2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline, and certain Acura MDX and TLX models. The issue revolves around a connecting rod bearing failure in vehicles with 3.5-liter V6 engines, which can cause complete engine failure. Honda had recalled 250,000 vehicles in 2023 for this issue, but 173 new complaints have surfaced from owners not included in the original recall. While there have been no reported injuries, one owner did experience a crash.
