In 2025, the full retirement age (FRA) for Social Security benefits will increase to 66 years and 10 months for people born in 1959. This means that those individuals will start receiving their full benefits in November 2025. Although you can begin claiming Social Security as early as age 62, doing so will reduce your monthly payments by up to 30% if you retire before reaching your FRA. For example, someone who retires at 62 might see their $1,000 benefit drop to $700 or $750, depending on their birth year. If you wait until your FRA, you'll receive the full amount based on your lifetime earnings. The maximum benefit at FRA in 2025 will be $4,018, and if you delay until age 70, it could go up to $5,108. Additionally, all Social Security recipients will see a cost-of-living adjustment of 2.5% next year, meaning an average increase of about $47 per month for those currently receiving around $1,870. ☑ Follow The 79 📧 Join our community for daily insights on Tech, Business, and AI trends at https://lnkd.in/d3nxC2DN #retirement #socialsecurity #FRA #news 📷: Unsplash

  • Mark Zuckerberg's Meta has aligned with Elon Musk in urging California to block OpenAI's transition to a for-profit entity. This unexpected partnership comes as both billionaires, who have a history of rivalry, agree that OpenAI should remain a nonprofit. In a letter to California Attorney General Rob Bonta, Meta accused OpenAI of exploiting its nonprofit status to attract billions of dollars while planning to shift to a profit-driven model. Meta warned that allowing this change could set a dangerous precedent, enabling other startups to misuse nonprofit status for private gain. Musk, who has been against OpenAI's shift, is also pursuing legal action to prevent the transition, claiming it threatens fair competition in the AI sector. OpenAI has countered these claims by asserting that Musk previously supported a for-profit model. ☑ Follow The 79 📧 To get more of these, subscribe to our daily newsletter on https://lnkd.in/d3nxC2DN #elonmusk #markzuckerberg #facebook #meta #openai #forprofir #lawsuit #news

  • OpenAI has responded to Elon Musk's ongoing legal battle by releasing emails that suggest Musk initially supported a for-profit model for the organization. Musk's lawsuit accuses OpenAI of abandoning its nonprofit mission, but OpenAI claims his complaints stem from a desire for control after he failed to secure majority equity in the company. In 2017, Musk proposed merging OpenAI with a hardware startup and suggested a corporate structure that would give him significant control. After his proposals were rejected, he resigned from OpenAI in 2018 and later launched his own AI company, xAI. OpenAI argues that Musk's current legal actions are an attempt to undermine its operations while he develops his competing venture. Musk's lawsuit also includes allegations against Microsoft, claiming they are sharing proprietary information. OpenAI is under pressure to complete its transition to a for-profit entity quickly, as investors could reclaim their funding if this does not happen within two years.
