Day 2 of the #NHSConfedExpo24 with Simon Bowers, Paul Foster, Alex Paul, Andrew Davies and the whole team at Ethical Healthcare Consulting – one child asleep, and one less so... but here are my thoughts: We met some great people, listened to insightful talks, and had productive discussions. More importantly, I left with a stronger determination to keep pushing the envelope with Blinx Healthcare. We will continue to do things differently and keep disrupting, all the time channelling my Kevin Costner "build it and they will come" mantra 😎 Regardless of current system constraints, technical challenges, or any upcoming election outcome, the need for innovation persists, and we all have to embrace the need for change together. Who will I see in Phoenix next week for #ATA2024 ? Some say Telehealth (Virtual Care) is on the wane - but most of us know it's a critical part of the future of healthcare. And while it might be at a plateau right now around 10-15% -- remember it was under 1% before COVID! And the real questions become how to best use it as a special new tool to manage a population (if all we do is use it to replace an office visit... we've missed on it's promise!). Consider that (1) It is much more convenient for patients; (2) It enables a new type of career path for doctors as "Virtualists"; (3) It enables the building of an asset-light virtual care team that would not be affordable in an office-based setting; (4) It enables use of cool new tech before the appointment such as continuous remote monitoring, and pre-visit automation, etc...
